I primarily play franchise mode and very lightly modded; and when I’m not playing, I’m taking care of exotic animals, namely reptiles and amphibians, in my own collections. I have a few ideas and suggestions to improve gameplay and realism in the game, and allow for better creativity.
MASONRY PIECES
I’d really like to see more masonry pieces, namely more brick and stone ones. There are so many kinds of brick and stone work, for example: Coursed Rubbled, Uncoursed Rubble, Random Rubble, Dry Rubble, Polygonal Rubble, Odd Course, Even Course, the list goes on. It’d be great to have more variety in the stonework pieces!
It’d also be nice to have smaller individual recolorable pieces of stones, like sandstone, slate, mudrock, stuff used in walls and landscaping. It’d be helpful to make landscaping come to life more, as well as for smaller animal’s enclosures, like Fennec Foxes and such. Also, smaller brick pieces to work with as well!
EXHIBIT VARIETY
As a keeper of exotic animals myself, I can say the "one size fits all" is ABSOLUTELY incorrect. I’d really love to see variety in size and shape of the exhibits. Half sized (which would fit Naked Mole Rats well ;0 ), 1/3 size, 1/4 size, and DOUBLE long! The normal sized fits well for the animals like turtles, axolotls, yellow anaconda, goliath and american bullfrogs, boa constrictor, and gila monster. The half size would do well for giant snails, giant malaysian leaf insects, giant cockroach, most of the snakes, etc. 1/3 size would be better for the smaller snakes, blue tongued skink, giant beetles, etc. The 1/4 size would fit all the spiders, all the dart frogs, all the tarantulas, etc VERY well. Double size would be for iguanas, which honestly should be habitat animals.
Spiders, tarantulas, scorpions, etc do not come out if their enclosure is too spacious. They feel threatened and exposed. Making the enclsoures smaller would better fit them for display.
It’d also be nice to see a cylindrical enclosure!
FLORA
More dead trees and plants to start. Especially mossy and rotting logs! Zoos make excellent use of dead trees and branches for enclosures. More branches would be cool; I’d like to see cork bark, flats, tubes, and branches, as it’s a staple in reptile keeping. Also more ferns! We need more ferns!!
EGG LAYING
Please. I hate egg-laying species just poppin’ out fresh, hot n ready babies. It‘d be amazing to have the animals create nests, or need ones placed to lay their eggs. ZT2 had this as a feature! I’d just like to see it for some better realism and immersion.
