Here we are... Part 3 of the things that would benefit the game! REMINDER that the suggestions for "boots on the ground" part of Elite in Part 2 and the following stuff are for the long term as most of them would require a lot of work FDev. Of course that hard work can result in a lot of profit at the end of the day! just look at No Mas Sky for example... It was a steaming pile of **** filled with lies and broken promises! but today after a lot of hard work from the devs to redeem themselves, that game not only turned from mostly negative views on STEAM to mostly positive but also now lives up to the promises it made and goes beyond even throwing pot shots at Elite by calling the latest update as FRONTIER haha! Many ppl gave FDev a lot of hate when Odyssey first launched; but I won't lose faith! if an indie studio can come around from an impossible situation I'm sure Frontier can too!
Now continuing from Part 2...
Remember when I said to forget about the concept from the Odyssey tutorial that says "lasers for shields, bullets for bodies" while this is bad for Humans; maybe the insects could be like that! THE THARGOIDS!!! their shields on ships and the ships themselves are sort of manufactured and biological hybrid right? so when in the future we get to see thargoids on the ground they could indeed use this mechanics! and there was some leaked images related to how the Insects looked like right? so imagine if the guys from the AX Initiative could go to a Thargoid dominated planet and find themselves in a STARSHIP TROOPERS situation lol being swarmed by insects! that would be fun!!!
The following additions would work better post the most Requested Feature the community thought we were going to get from Odyssey was implemented but could be added before too! And I definitely think FDev can do it since they are bringing a new SRV.
while shields on Suits are a bad Thing for the humans in the game I think ARMOR would go nicely: this could be something you can equip from your ship suit management screen as of right now, but when we get and I say when not if we get the "Awaited Requested Feature" they could be located in an armory room for example. And these armored suits could have a durability meter like the Power Armor in Fallout and a lower battery duration for balancing purposes and could look kind of like this....
Basically an EXO SUIT! like a juggernaut from Call of duty! they could allow for more protection and the ability to carry or use more specialized or heavy weapons like the minigun I've mentioned in Part 2! And much like the Weapons Workbench, we could get an Armor workbench specific for these type of Suits, where we could configure them either for Human on Human or AX Combat! these would be great additions for the ENFORCER units that were added in the game!
Now given all the weaponry I've talked about and the ones already available, they could be used to deal with any threat like the upcoming Combat SRV! And so we could get 2 other "Vehicles" related to combat. First let me say they could be implemented to be in combat zones or patrolling High security Settlements or bases.
A TANK! now of course they would be cooler if you had entering animations for this and the SRV's and the other thing I will show, but that will require the "Ship Interiors" first! as for now you would simply teleport inside, like the SRV. The tank aside from the cmdr being able to carry in the ship (given we would get some new bigger ships) they could also be available for the NPCs in High Intensity Combat Zones or patrolling a base or high level settlement. And of course give the ability to multicrew the tank either with players or NPCs to man the machine gun turrets for example. NEXT
we could get Mechas! like the Wanzers from Front Mission Series which are heavily modular just like the ships in elite being capable of having many weapons and configurations! all these additions could generate profit in form of camouflages for example, just like it is with the ships. Now these Mechas can actually be very easily implemented in Elite Dangerous Because of the awesome feature we have in the game called Fire Groups! so they could easily have shoulder missiles, weapons for both arms, Jetpacks and whatnot. Of course being limited on how much they can carry depending of the Mecha! plus these ones could be engineered! maybe the engineers that do suits today could do that instead! They also would probably need bigger ships to be carried. And they also could be in the conflict zones in the hands of NPCs and patrolling settlements and bases! they could be quite effective in dealing with Ships in the Sky or battling tank and infantry while also being good for AX Combat. Since Elite is set 1300 years in the future, it would make a lot of sense to have these bipedal "tanks"! Imagine how crazy it would be to be in a CZ and see a NPC ship or a Multicrew ship doing a "drive by" and drops a NPC or Cmdr inside one of these into the battlefield! Basically a Titanfall experience haha. Now considering that Frontier can make high fidelity dinosaurs with big sizes and in a good scale compared to a human it wouldn't be difficult to create Bipedal tanks that can have around 7 to 10 meters tall! they could be deployed from a crouching position from inside the current large ships I think. Not only that but the ability Frontier has with doing the dinos it wouldn't be too hard for them to in the future implement maybe Sub-species of Thargoids of varying sizes? or a variety of other alien creatures and animals we could find in planets with different atmospheres! this would marginally improve the Exobiology experience we have today which is basically non existent. And thinking about that can you imagine that with these equipments and creatures we could also get new types of missions for example to sample the blood of a creature or sedate and scan or capture and transport them to a facility! adding maybe even a "Live stock" cargo module in the game! If you can basically have a Zoo in No Man Sky, we can have a Zoo in Elite lol.
Now adding to the variety of NPCs we need, it would be nice if we could find in stations and settlements theses guys...
The lore says these robots are made to help in administrative tasks, but aside from seeing them in stations and settlements even lets say just helping in the background of a store, there could be versions of them around as combatants or helping police enforcement!
Now going further in making the ground part of Elite more rich and complex create a...
COMPANION SYSTEM: it would be nice with when solo or even along side multicrew we could get some NPCs to stick with us and Help in different ways! Imagine having something like this...
For Anyone who watched Red Planet back in the day will remember this robot! AMEE... A robot that can help with carrying stuff and research, but also is capable of doing Reconnaissance by launching a portable drone and can do CQC Combat. It would be interesting if we could get a robot like that or a human or an android to accompany us around and help with recon or eliminating enemies or carrying cargo or hacking doors or turrets for us and etc... all of these additions once we'd get a rework for ground combat as I explained would make for a great varieties in the CZ's and any other type of ground missions e.g (assassination, covert ops, stealing data, stealing biological, stealing weapons schematics, Hacking/ Espionage, AX Combat, AX recon, AX research and etc...) allowing to have many different missions and how we approach them.
Now moving to....
PLAYER INTERACTIONS: Now talking a bit about player interactions as these are kind of a core mechanic for implementing the "Final game mechanic". We will soon be able to o7 and do other emotes to players. How about we change some interactions and add more?
instead of having a pop up menu, why not actually going and pressing the button to call the elevator? maybe even having the physical animation of your Cmdr extending the arm and pressing the button! now I'm not saying we should get physical animations for when navigating between the panels in your cockpit for example as they way the HUD works in Elite is pretty good and intuitive compared to Star Citizen for example. BUT in general ppl love pressing buttons! there's a reason the red buttons that can cause nuclear apocalypse are protected by a locked glass screen lol! And having interactions for the sake of immersion! just look at the success of Star Citizen or Red Dead Redemption 2.
wouldn't be hard to allow these things. And if we can Have useless interactions like this....
changing the hologram in Inter Astra. We then can pretty much have interactions like this....
Environment interaction! let us sit in a bench, stand by a table, sit in the the bar, smoke cigarettes', sip on a drink... all that kind of stuff! in pioneer store being able to interact with the products on the shelves and inspecting them for example. All these little things while meaningless and looking "boring" are things that players actually enjoy, as even if they don't do it, they know they can! and there are a lot of ppl who are huge roleplay buffs! So having all the good stuff that increase immersion in your game increase sales haha.
This is It for Part 3! of the things that can make this game incredible and relevant!
You can see I use a variety of examples ranging from concept art to other game mechanics. The reason for that is.... nothing is created and everything is copied! you don't have to make your game most original out here but if know which mechanics to make inspired on them you can end up with a game much better than the ones used as examples! having what they do great in, without the flaws! ED has the advantage of being a live service game so you don't need to have an Elite Dangerous 2 game for example! you can always improve upon your product! In content and in visuals! So long the servers remain online and ppl generate profit the game can keep growing! And I'm trying to help by showing in witch directions it can grow.
Part 4 which will probably be the final one, we will go in the polemic subject to FDev lol. See you there CMDRs! o7
