Newcomer / Intro Question about alpha/beta access

Hey there CMDRs o7

I've never had access to an alpha or beta game development versions so far.

Considering Elite Dangerous scenario, if i purchase the Deluxe Mega Ultra Blaster Frame Shift Drive Charging Alpha Expansion pack, will the progress i get during gameplay in such versions be saved into my main CMDR account or will it just be erased and when Odyssey is launched i have to start fresh?

o7

Thanks for the lightning fast response

Will i start with a 0 progress account or will it use my current progress?

They typically take a snapshot of everything 2-3 weeks from starting the beta. So your beta character will be using that snapshot

Well, strictly it's a snapshot from a few weeks before the Alpha/Beta starts. At the end you lose everything. Nothing transfers over, other than any motor skills you gain.

(Control Binding changes as well remain I think - getting a bit niche there :) )

by the way, that is an interesting feat for streamers to increase their popularity, since early access can bring the attention of some players.

If no progress is saved, maybe i'll just wait for the final release

Yes control binding changes have transferred back before now.

The more people that play them the more bugs and glitches can be caught and hopefully fixed.

Hi,
I'd suggest (very gently), that the alpha version is left to those commanders who have lots of patience and can "push the envelope"...
Playing a beta is often a bit frustrating - there have been occasions when you lose the ship etc. Often multiple times to analyse the problem.

It is frustrating to know there's a new chunk of content waiting for you. However, the alpha, beta and live game saves are separate (remember which you're playing! The test version uses a save from a couple of weeks before).
Any time testing will cut down your actual progress
