Newcomer / Intro Question about missing systems...

Hey Commanders,

I have a question for you...I am currently running a RTR course back to LHS20. I was at Wregoe PT-Q C5-0, did what I needed and went to the galaxy map. Punched in Eskimo Sector DL-Y C10 (the next jump listed in my RTR printout that I got when I started heading back from out in the black. So far, this list has been dead on the money for systems and planetary bodies, at least up until this point.

So after punching in the system, I hit enter...and nothing. Hmmm, maybe I fat fingered the nav console...E-S-K-I-M-O S-Y-S-T-E-M DL-Y C10....enter....and nada. Okay, I look at the entry, I see that the C10 part doesn't have anything after it, so I start adding a -1,-2,-3 etc...Nope. Okay, I'll check it when I log out. Skip that one and go to NGC 2392 Sector HR-W D1-20...double jump and in the system. Scan, Map, and the next system on the list is ESKIMO SECTOR KM-W C1-1. I type it into the console...nope...no luck.

Okay, I can understand one system being off, but not two, and not two with the same basic name. So I log out, and go to EDDB and look. The first system, the DL-Y C10 does NOT exist. the only ESK SEC DL-Y systems (according to EDDB) are a D6 and D16. No C10 at all. Okay, maybe the RTR calculator brain farted it. Fine, I can live with that.

So next I put in the Eskimo Sector KM-W C1-1 system and low and behold, it pops up pretty as you please in EDDB. It shows the planet that would be there (a WW at A2) for a RTR route and does exist.

I did not fat finger the second one, and I retried both systems in the nav computer 4 or 5 times each. So, have the Eskimo Sectors disappeared from the galaxy? I have looked online, and some consider the work Eskimo to be offensive...Some replace the work with Inuit instead.

I've been away from the game for a month or so, so if there have been changes, then it makes sense why I can't get any system with Eskimo Sector in the name to pop up. Also, this is the first Eskimo Sector system that I have come across in my RTR route, but there are 4 others not including the two mentioned along the route.

Any info would be welcomed as I am still about 100+ jumps out from home and 70+ systems still on my RTR route.

Thank you Commanders o7

Are you in Odyssey? When you type into the galmap search box there, you get a drop down like a Google search which starts listing near matches.

Also, have you tried C-10? As in cee dash ten.

Other than that, I'm afraid I'm stumped!

Well, if you really did type the word "system" instead of "sector", that could be one explanation.

However, the true explanation for the "disappearance" of the entire Eskimo Sector from ED and EDSM is that, due to political correctness, the entire Eskimo Sector has now been renamed to "NGC 2392 Sector". The alphanumeric code after the name should be the same.

So the system formerly known as "Eskimo Sector DL-Y C10" will now be known as "NGC 2392 Sector DL-Y C10".

The Road to Riches websites, and EDDB, haven't yet caught up with this change, but the word "Eskimo" has been eliminated from the EDSM database, except of course for the Eskimori system.

Thanks...I realized what I typed in here after I had sent the message...my bad...No, I did type SECTOR in (several times in fact for both systems and no luck)

Thank You!! I figured it might be something like that...especially when two systems with the same beginning name were not there. I even went into the Galactic Map and started mousing over systems to see if I could luck upon my ill-named systems. Now I will just change the names on my RTR list and continue working my way back to civilization.

Thanks again Commanders! o7

Holly molly ... in xUSSR it was best and most tasty ice cream called "Eskimo". And there are those on market yet :D
I thought it was named bcs of ice cream in fact :D
...this "political correctness" it true nightmare spread the World.

It's spelt "Esquimau" anyway as any Sherlock Holmes fan knows.

Well, just got back from the RTR trip...mind you, I skipped the last 10 stops, but for the most part it wasn't too bad of a trip back. I hit 77 systems listed as part of the RTR, and I honked every system that I passed through. Some systems I would FSS as well if I was not in a hurry. All in all, I made 115 jumps.

There were some systems in the RTR list that only showed 1 or 2 targets, but had in one instance 4. I know that the other two (and ones in other systems) were outside the targeting limits that I put in to the parameters when I got the list...no problem....tracked them down and mapped them too. Hey, it adds a few more credits to the end.

So, I was not flying like a ninja with my hair on fire to knock this out. I was coming back from about 10klys out and thought I'd make a few credits on the way back. No use dead-heading if you can make a credit or two. When I got back home (LHS 20) and docked I went to the Cartography shop and turned in my findings...Total take was $138,435,332.

Huh? Maybe I mis-read the results...went back and checked everything...Nope, for honking every system, mapping all the RTR targets and then some, FSSing 90% of the systems I did go to...I got $138 Million Credits. For some reason I thought that the RTR trips brought in more credits. I do understand that RTR's were meant to haul ship, hit a system, honk, FSS the target planet (I think), go Map the target planet, target the next system on the list, and then book out of there. Fast way to make millions of credits in as short amount of time as you want to make it. I just seemed to remember people saying that they were bringing in BIG credits (500 Million+ like)...

Yeah I know, "What are you griping about, you got $138 Million for a trip back you had to do anyway", and yes you are correct. Don't look cheap credits in the mouth...But I think I'm going to stick to mining for a while to bring up my credit total. Closer, more fun, requires dexterity, and I do enjoy mining. Now to see how badly they've Nerfed mining. Maybe with all the Odyssey stuff going on, they have left it alone to a point. We'll see...

Take Care and Check Six Commanders! o7
