Question about planet where landing is possible

Hi everybody

I'm not very fluent with english, so, i hope that you understand my question

Every landing planet have some circles rotating around in the detailled map. Did these circles have a maining in the game or are they here just to make the map more nice.

On what i see, these circles are not the same for each planet, but they are also here even if i don't scan the planet.

Perhabs somone look at this already, perhabs I a foolish idea (or the two) but it will be funny if they contain a code that give clues about the planet.

If you are talking about the system map blue half circles mean that you can land on the planet. Blue circles with vertical lines means that there are base/bases on that planet. Some have docking privileges and other security bases (have +++) do not.

My understanding is that they are only a graphic. They will show up either if it's a system that is built in to your ships computer (most of the bubble), if you scan navigation beacon, or honk with your advanced discovery scanner. The ones with 3 vertical lines on some of then coming from the circle indicate a planetary base / outpost.

I think the OP means the pale white/grey circles you see when you zoom into the planet map. There's 3 iirc? And they move about as you rotate the planet map.
Can't say I've noticed any particular pattern.

Edit..
Not near my computer and no recent screenies, but an old one from the Beagle Point circumnavigation:

Thank you for your screen, it's that, except that the number of circles can be mor than three, around ten to twelve at less.

I start to make screen shot now that i see why i could not before. The same key (F10) was occupied by too many software

I know the ones you mean, I expect they are there to give you an idea of the body orientation, like the north south pointers. When in the detailed view you can rotate the planet around and up and down and twist it, without some sort of pointer you will lose the view orientation and won't be able to plot a route. For instance if I want to go a particular crater I can work out a rough course guestimate based on my position and NSEW. If the crater is to the left of my position on planet view I just steer course 270 - East, or 325 - Northeast if it is up at a 45% angle to my left, however if I have been playing with the body orientation I may have twisted it so that travelling 270 may actually be taking me further away from the crater. You can exit detailed view and re-enter detailed view to reset, or you can use the blue pole marker and orientation bands to figure out where the starting position is quite easily.
