Question about the Frontier Store

I ordered the game from Steam back in early 2017 and although I have it installed from Steam I’m always running the stand alone launcher. I never have Steam running in the background while I play the game.

I’d like to purchase Odyssey from the Frontier Store so I can continue playing it stand alone and not be tied to Steam. I’m a little concerned though because while I do see ED under “My Orders” tab when I log in to the Frontier Store, it says I have not purchased anything when I look at “My downloadable products”.

I think to play Odyssey stand alone I need to completely separate it from Steam but I can’t seem to install ED fresh outside of Steam because it doesn’t seem to be able to let me download it.

Anyone have any idea why that is?

I am in same situation although I haven't bought it yet. So I am interested in how this horizons steam purchase + odyssey frontier store purchase will work.

Yet, why do you think you can download/play it right away?

I don’t think I can download it right away, and I haven’t pre-purchased it yet, I’m just talking about the current ED version. I’m just trying to plan ahead. If I purchase Odyssey on Frontier, I wouldn’t expect the update to be installed over the Steam installation since Steam won’t know that I have it. In preparation. For that I figure I’d have to install ED fresh from Frontier so it won’t need to be updated through Steam.

The problem is that it doesn’t seem to let me download it as per my OP.

My account shouldn’t tied to Steam as I purchased it in 2017 and I run the game without running Steam, I just sign in to the Frontier game launcher. I sign in with my Frontier account, I don’t used “steam login”.

The installation will probably happen through your existing non-steam client when it is available similarly to what we had with beta access to FC.

Anyway, I am waiting a transaction to my "online-purchase" card to occur later today and will try the frontier store way.
I can confirm you though that E : D + Horizons bought on steam do not appear under downloadable products in frontier store and some recent steam purchased licenses cannot use standalone launcher as they require Steam authentication (AKA you need steam running and connected all the time). I can speculate that this is purely on account level and if you can launch E : D without steam you will keep that option. The shady part is would a frontier purchase required to be added to steam or epic somehow.

Honestly, that requirement for having Steam/EPIC/Whatsoever running just to get authentication is rubbish.

My concern is that if I purchase Odyssey through Steam it will lock me into Steam for good because it’ll count as a recent ED purchase and it won’t let me run the launcher stand alone, the way I do now, without having to run Steam in the background.

I have a non Steam account AND and Steam account (Hardly ever used)... I'd want to tie Odyssey to my non Steam account.... Can i do this if I purchase the Steam Alpha?

Errrr yeah I go through that and the only option applicable to me is Steam, which I don't want to buy it through? (Well not yet anyway), I want the first instance tied to my non steam account

Then log with your non-steam account in Frontier store and buy the game from there.

I really do not understand what is the problem. Unless you explicitly want to buy from steam for some reasons.
