Newcomer / Intro Question, is it normal for thargoid probes to warp space like a black hole?

I should start by saying im new and have only been playing about a month.

So Im out in Maia to see my first black hole, and im enjoying the tourist beacons.
I noticed that every moon out there had 5 or more crashed thargoids on it. I figured I would land and see one for myself as well as collect some sensor fragments.
I get down to one and the whole probes are warping the space around them you can see the double image around them and the blur in this picture. Is this normal for these to do?

It is normal. If you get close to them on foot, you will take damage.

If you go to a thargoid structure, you can pop scavengers to get the fragments easier. Otherwise you'll do the relog dance where you are.

I dont relog, ill fly to different crash sites if needed but I was just in the area and thought I would check them out. The distortion kind of caught me off guard as I had never seen that before.
