sorry for resurrecting.
I've been playing around in
https://coriolis.edcd.io
I had always assumed that a better power distributer would speed up the recovery time of shields from a collapsed state to full. However this appears to be fixed so changing the power plant or the power distributer makes no difference.
Is this right?
Assuming 4 pips in sys will a 7A power distributer recharge the 5A shields as quickly as a 4A distributer?
Or is there an assumption going on at
https://coriolis.edcd.io in relation to recharge rates (like recharge rate with a constantly full sys)? Which would mean that it actually takes longer than shown?
This probably gonna get locked due to necro, but just to answer, yeah I think it's always been that way.
So on the right you have the various pips for the power distributor.
SYS is for shields.
So all shields regenerate at the same rate, ~2Mj/s I think. But a shield can only recharge while there is energy showing in the SYS capacitor on your right, ie when to bar is not empty.
Obviously the number of pips to SYS sets how quick the SYS cap recharges. So no SYS pips does not effect recharge rate directly, but it does indirectly.
On the specific of whether a 4A would charge the same as a 7A, well would need to test but 4A, I do not know, but only because I'm not clear on how coriolis is presenting the stats.
I suppose an easy way to check is if the SYS cap bar does not deplete on 4 pips when the shield is regening. I the PD can fill the bar quicker than the shield can empty the bar then the answer is probably yes, it's a big enough PD and no benefit to going bigger for this specific use case.
