Question to FDEV - Polish localisation?

In 2.4 we are going to receive a new localisation for Elite Dangerous (Brasilian Portugese). A lot of the Polish community were asking about a Polish translation and in fact FDEV promised that we're going to get one - as per this newsletter: http://us2.campaign-archive1.com/?u=dcbf6b86b4b0c7d1c21b73b1e&id=8b7e3f3ba9

Since the launch of Beta 1.0, people from 98 countries around the world have flown, traded and fought together in the Elite: Dangerous Milky Way galaxy. Localisation has started; we will be initially releasing the following languages:
German, French, Russian, Polish, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Mexican Spanish, Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, Swedish, Finnish, Norwegian and Simplified Chinese.

I know for a fact that a lot of Polish players purchased the game based on the above.

After the game was translated to a few of the above languages, Frontier apparently moved to community based translations and that's how the game was localised in Spanish, if I'm not mistaken. I have then asked Frontier when we will get Polish localisation - we even had quite a large group of Commanders willing to get involved in the project. The answer was that Frontier are not planning any new translations in the future.

And lo and behold in 2.4 we get a new translation...

I personally prefer to play in English, however I know that a lot of the community will be really unhappy about this.

So, a question to FDEV - can we expect a Polish localisation at some point in the future, and if so - when? I really hope to get an answer to this, so that I can pass it to the community.

Yup, many polish E: D gamers are in the galaxy :) We also have volunteers which can help you with translation or testing. Would you kindly add support for Polish translation, FDEV? Please! :D

I know many Commanders with basic or worse english and this game was too hard for them so they stopped playing. Elite could have much bigger player base with this translation. Frontier there are 42 millions of people in Poland only. Not talking about emigrants in other countries. Please look into this.

Would be nice if the text files for localizations were made available so the community could create localizations for any officially unsupported language. Icelandic, Polish, Afrikaans, whatever.

Well put. Fully agree with you on that one.
Even if FDev does not have resources to provide localisation they could expose some mechanism for community to work on their own (semi)unofficial localization.

And what are the rules of the localization? Are there much more players from Portugal as from Poland - if there is no secret how many players are from Portugal and how many are loging into game from polish IP?

Portuguese is also official language of Brazil. So that would need to be taken into account too.

I was the first man to start the Polish localisation volunteers gathering on Polish sub-forum, there https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/147870-Spolszczanie-Elite-Dangerous-ochotnicy
Two years back!
There are way more people willing to help with PL translation as I've stopped updating that list after getting some rejection messages from FDev, that they are not planning any new translations... and look at this.
Trust me, people on these list are still eager to start working on it (me included) and I still hope that FDev will think about it... I mean come on FDev, players want to do it for you, they don't want anything in exchange for it. More polish folks will be attracted to the game because of it.

Just allow us to do it.

what can i write ...

For two years I translated the GalNet for the Polish community,

I created Polish Radio for the Polish community,

awaiting the release of the Polish version of the game.

I stopped when I found out that the Polish version of the game will not arise.
I stopped playing, stopped writing.

Thank you for two years with you. I will return with the Polish language in the GalNet.

Unknownworlds who make Subnautica crowdsourced the translation, and in a matter of days they had most of it translated and peer reviewed. You can see it in action here: https://translate.unknownworlds.com/pages/instructions
Anybody can join, there are mods and a voting system.

Why can't we have something similar in Elite? Or planet coaster? Or jurassic park? I know some parts of the game need to remain secret, but probably 98% of the rest could be easily localized. UIs, menus, npc messages, system descriptions... Think about it.

It's a pity that such large community has no translation.

Is it that FD is totally ignoring us?

Yes, they do. They "promised" polish translation, along many other things, just get our money, back in before day 1, when they tried get much of customers as possible. At this rate, I have seriously doubts if they manage make do that in thier 10y plan.

I dont have any problems with english myself, but one of main reasons why I did pre-order this game as I was "promised" see this game in my native language.
