RCT 3 PC questions about animals/fireworks

i asked these questions on 2 other forums but haven't gotten any replies as of yet..
1st: how do i know how many of a certain species of animal to put in an enclosure? also, what does social requirement (i.e.; 1/20) mean? does it mean put 1 animal in an enclosure?
2nd: regarding fireworks-why do i only have 1 type of firework in my fireworks folder? isn't there supposed to be a whole bunch of different kinds?
i just found this:
http://www.atari.com/rollercoasterty...n.php?page=faq
Q: How many individual firework designs are there?
A: There will be around 30 different fireworks (i.e. individual types of fireworks, not displays) shipped with the game.
and am wondering why i only have 1 firework type and not 30.
btw, do i need to un/reinstall rct3/soaked!/wild! to get the default fireworks types? if so, i won't lose any data (parks, etc.), will i?
thanks.
i just came across this "Important! Before uninstalling RCT3 always back up your My Documents\RCT3. While the uninstall shouldn't affect any of your saves, it is always best to be safe rather than sorry." and was wondering: how do i back up my My Documents\RCT3, exactly?

That sounds like the Panda, a low social value means that the animal isn't very socialable. Best thing is to put one or two animals in the enclosure, and keep an eye on their happiness when you add more.

You should probably try a reinstall.

Just rename it or copy it to another drive or disk.

so, if i go to my documents>rct i rename the folder (i.e.; my rct3 folder)?
reinstalling won't cause me to lose any saved data, right? do i need to uninstall soaked & wild, too, or just rct3? i have the soaked/wild CDs' somewhere. wasn't sure if i needed them. for animals, regarding social requirements: if i see, i.e.;18/20, what does 18 mean and what does 20 mean?
thanks.

You should always backup your rct3 folder from the user documents folder on pc's otherwise if you do a clean reinstall of the OS, you loose it all.

Renaming the folder will mean that it won't get overwritten if you re-install (this shouldn't happen anyway, but it's best to be safe).

If you uninstall RCT3 then you need to reinstall the expansions as well.

Have a look in the install folder for RCT3, there will be a folder called Fireworks, what do you see listed there?

With the social score, the second value is the highest possible value for any animal, the first value is a relative value giving an indication of how socialable the animal is. So 18 means that it is a social animal and you should keep them in a group.

thanks. well, things are kind of messed up on my computer as far as rct3 is concerned. not sure why. if i went to c:/program files/atari/rollercoaster tycoon(r)3/fireworks, in the past, i only had 1 firework type. i, since, went to c:/program files/savedfiles/program files/atari/rollercoaster tycoon(r)3/fireworks and found the missing ones. i copied them to the c:/program files/atari/rollercoaster tycoon(r)3/fireworks folder. it's fine now. a while back i had an extra drive installed. now i can't find a few parks i made. as i said a few things are messed up. i'm still a little vague on the animal. btw, in rct3, how do i create my own fireworks? is there an editor i can open up?

Have you had RCT3 installed more than once? That might explain why everything was not in the correct location.

There is a cheat that allows you to create your own fireworks, the link below is to a tutorial explaining how:

http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=526632

With the animal social score the higher the number the more it wants to be with others of the same species.

i believe so. not sure how often. as far as animal social requirement goes is 20 the highest number? is it always 1/20, 17/20, etc.,? say i want pandas. if it says 1/20 that means i'd need no more than 2? i'm still fuzzy on how many of an animal to put in an enclosure. i thought 1 meant put in one, 18, put in 18, etc. i just opened the advanced fireworks editor, which is complex to me, and, after reading the tutorial, came across this:
" 1. First off, open the editor and click "New Firework".
2. Our options for our anscestor particle pops up. Lets leave it like it is for now.
3. Lets name this "Rocket Explosion".
4. Click "New Particle Emitter"".
i see nothing saying new particle emitter. i'd be happy if i could create 1 successful firework.

The social score is just an indicator, not an absolute number as it is effected by other factors such as what species are in the enclosure. For Pandas you would generally have no more than 2 in an enclosure. As suggested previously just add a new animal, and if the animals still there remain happy it's probably safe to add another. If they become unhappy then don't add any more anaimals.

Creating fireworks using the APE is quite complex, it was really only designed for use by us, it wasn't designed for general players. Try clicking the Add child particle emitter.
