Questions on Post-war events

I've been fighting a war in a small system against the controlling faction. I arrived at the main outpost and the galnet news for the controlling faction says that they have now lost the war and lost influence. The news for the faction I supported says they've won and gained more influence, but control of the system and outpost has not changed hands. How long until this takes place? Do I need to keep fighting?

I believe the war lasted five days, maybe four. The controlling faction won one day before I began fighting, then I won three or four days - all the days since. Everywhere else I look - in the system map and in my ship's systems panel under status, it shows the meter almost fully to victory for my chosen faction, but still shows a war state and both factions holding the same percentage of influence.

Sorry if all this has been stated elsewhere but I couldn't find it and this is my first war. So what happens next?

If the war's over, it is possible that your minor faction won some other assets other than the outpost. Surface station or posts (megaship?) and something like that perhaps. If it is not (war status still appears), fight till it is. IIRC it's seven days, not five.

There are only a planetary station and an orbital outpost. The faction I supported already controlled the planet and the "losing" faction controlled the outpost in space.

If the war isn't over, why would each side declare they've won or lost in the news? This just changed like an hour or so ago by the way. Before that they were still counting the days won or lost.

Ok so I flew to another system, landed, and checked the map of the system in question and everything has changed hands. I flew back just to see, and yes, everything has changed over to the new controlling faction. It's a drastic change since it was an anarchy system before and now it has a government. Maybe I had to actually leave the system for the changes to take place. Interesing to see though. This game is so cool. Thanks for your help!
