Questions with Dav and CQC with the developers on PC and PS4 (7PM BST 13/07)

The past livestreams with Dav have been my favorite, as he usually answers lots of questions and isn't afraid to be informative either. They've been extremely interesting. I know the beige issue isn't his domain, but since we can't get anyone else at Frontier to go into detail I figured it couldn't hurt to ask it of him, maybe he will bring a light to the situation.

It was worth a shot. Every other avenue seems to fail. :(

Certainly is worth a shot. There's an outside chance Dav might be aware of what's going on with it from just conversations with coworkers, so I will reiterate:

Dav, do you have any idea what kind of progress has been made on the beige planets issue, based on Michael Brookes' words quoted earlier in this thread? Can you confirm that it's being worked on at all? Even if you've just seen it in passing.

It is a rather pertinent issue, and getting a little silly that we've not had a proper answer to the request for an update on it. As for me personally, I'm holding off on going exploring again until it's fixed.

BGS queation, why does a conflict that starts on the same day as an expansion currently completely cancels out the expansion? And why does the expansion not go to a recovering state after being canceled?

I've asked QA and they said the expansion fails as nothing is contributed but it doesn't seem right as the state just vanishes and doesnt go recovering, this is the only example i know of a state not going into recovery

Serious question re: whether the following has anything to do with network traffic ...

Ever since I first installed the game over 2.5 yrs ago I've found that when I'm cruising past a star (e.g. fuel scooping), if I look at the star as I go past it, its surface texture tends to render in very noticeable jumps every few seconds (i.e. <smooth transition> <smooth transition> <jump> <smooth transition> <smooth transition> <jump>). I find it so off putting (and immersion breaking) that I now find myself deliberately not looking at the star as I fly past for fear of seeing this. Over the course of those 2yrs I've replaced the entire PC once and also upgraded the graphics card to a GTX 1080 but the problem has persisted. The only thing that hasn't changed in all that time is my mediocre Broadband connection (hence my question).

I believe we all get that. My connection is pretty good and I still get it.

;)
Funny isn't it! ... it's a bit of a classic round our office. I can no longer hear the words "Mongo DB" without immediately asking myself "Is it web scale" and then laughing uncontrollably. Haven't had a good opportunity to re-watch that for years. If Dav hasn't seen it before then I'm hoping he'll enjoy it immensely!
(DON'T BROADCAST IT THO! It gets a bit fruity later on).

true classic. you sort of slow-mo-ninjaed me. can't rep you again, forum says :D

I promise not to ask any questions of Dav this time...... well.... Except this one.

Will 2.4 and the ramping up of Thargoid interaction have any direct impact on BGS influence/state mechanics?

#freeDAV

Is all slavery bad?
How would you describe your working conditions?
How many times did you you work 'till 3am - this week?
How often do they feed you?
Are you getting access to consular or legal advise or is this denied?
We have been unable to locate your current position, but some of the reccee party have received information on a new location and produced photographs, we are checking there authenticity, and may be able to rescue you from there - Q. are they moving you to the new prison complex, do you know?

do you ever wish the decision had been made to not use P2P?

Does upnp still get used if on an ipv6 connection?

Elite doesnt pick up my router as having upnp on when it is.

Fritzbox! 3490

Dav questions:

it it appears that jumping into RES spawns you worryingly close to the rocks therein, is this an accidental enhancement of 2.3.11 or by design? Can it be dialled back a bit?

Megaship relocation posited in original release of these objects, will players be able to hitch a ride when it happens, if not is this a programmatically limitation or game play?

How has the load and scaling of Elite servers coped with PS4 release, what would you do differently when the Nintendo Switch version gets released ;-)

Space Whales - we want them, Sandro wants them, what foodstuff should we offer David Braben to get this to happen?

Multi destination route planning, again who should we bribe and with what foodstuff?

What so far of the Thargoid discoveries has impressed you the most?

When patches are released, what is the longest part of the patching process? Installing new code? Upgrading databases, or spinning up the server farm?

If you could host a lunch time steaming session about any subject, what would it be?

Are you getting a desk in the new building? If so is it above ground and can you see daylight?

Been stung with this a few times myself, really annoying that is seems to cancel the expansion completely instead of either going ahead or being delayed till after the conflict ends.
