Quick guide to attacking the Titan's

Alec,
you should append your tipps in your own "best off" thread so it could easier found over the time. for people who do not follow this forum so closely,

anyhow, thanks for the writeup
Thanks, and I would but to be honest that thread's kinda dead now. I haven't posted in it or updated it for months (years?) so a lot of its content is pretty outdated now.

On an only tangential topic: Apparently the amount of systems controlled by the titan directly affects its resistance (in-game lore being that thargoids in those systems are constantly supplying the titan with resources to make it stronger), and thus it's better to first regain those controlled systems to reduce the resistances of the titan.

But how is this done? If one would want to help regain the controlled systems, how?

Tissue sampling 😕

Take down Othrus in Alert Systems, Tissue sample, Rescue Pods, fight in AXCZ, missions (On foot, too), etc...

Here you can find a discussion about TItan Dmg Resistance in forum.

I saw that post but was intimidated by the 250+ pages of discussion, so was hoping for a short version of it. Your list is a bit too condensed, though... :p

Was hoping for slightly more details on exactly what should be done.

Maybe i will write a small guide, there is alot of activity you can do based on your play stile and fun, not all involve combat and this was intended by FDev to allow all player to partecipate.

Now is time to go work, i will post some info later :)

Don't get me wrong. AX combat is fine. But in moderation. Attacking the titan alone seems a bit too difficult (and repetitive in the long run, for the looks of it...)

oh ok, i understand. but that is kind of sorry. the best thread in this forum and it was very helpful for me when i started to play Elite dangerous. there are still some good guides created lately and i miss your summary collection.

thanks for the work so far, most helpfull for a lot of us.
Again, thanks for the kind words, really appreciate that. So many new tools and websites and other resources have come and gone in the last few years (especially since Odyssey and the introduction of all the new ground based game mechanics) that sadly I just couldn't afford the time to keep up with it all any more. I'm still involved with Buckyball and the racing side of the community and play nearly every day, and I try to share anything new I hear about as part of the Lave Radio crew every Tuesday night, but maintaining that thread to the standard I would like is just something I no longer really have the time to do.

Since those activities are important to weakening the titans, you could argue that doing them should count towards "contributing" to the kill, and earn you the rewards just as if you'd blown up a heart yourself. 🤷‍♂️

Can't see that happening though - if they do that, they might as well just give everyone who logs in the rewards, regardless of what they're doing.

Well, you are already getting rewards for doing missions. And a warm feeling from the thought that you have contributed. What more could you ask? :p

Here we go...

How to support Reclaiming Thargoid Systems, a not so complete guide, just an overview of AX activities, combat and not combat ones.

Let's start from Galactic Map, left frame mode "Thargoid War", select any Titan, we have five classifications of system status:
Alert, Invasion, Controlled, Titan itself and Post-thargoid recovery (wrench icon)

Scrolling down you will see suggested systems for each status, select a system and in right frame (again Thargoid War)
you'll see tasks you can do in support and effort progression.

You are not limitied to suggested systems, is just an "help to focus CMDRs effort", you can filter using INARA
and find a system with a task you like to do. Click HERE for INARA template

Facilities in systems can be in status: Under attack (Invasion), Damaged (Invasion), Abandoned (Invasion, Controlled, Recovery) or Repairing (Recovery).

in "general terms" we can summary,
  • AX Combat is always available, even in unpopulated systems.
  • "Under attack" facilities:
    • Action available at AX Combat Zones, Outposts, Stations or Ground Facilities, AXI and XFS web sites have plenty of ship builds and info about.
    • Join CZ, land and get missions to kill Thargoids, you can rearm/repair.
    • You can stack missions of different factions to maximize reward/time ratio.
    • Interceptors do not have drones swarm at ground facilities.
  • "Damaged" facilities or "Alert" systems:
    • Rescue missions, available after landing, Evac/Transport mission to the nearest Rescue Megaship, here is my CSAR Build
    • compared to the past, Scythe + Glaive interdiction on rescue ship are much less frequent, so my build offensive/defensive equips may be a bit overkill today.
  • Abandoned Post-thargoid recovery status:
    • Reactivation missions, here is a Buur Video, as a warning: reactivation mission still bugged (both AX and not), before accepting the mission check on system map the settlement status, repairng/abandoned, if it is active skip the mission.
  • Recover escape pods and Black boxes in NHSS
  • In Alert system destroy Othrus in Threat 4 NHSS, two build i use CytoChally or Krait Mk2, with last one you can even gather tissue samples, both use Supercruise Assist to help with NHSS catching time.
  • Deliver goods to recovering systems, go there, land, get mission, boring...
  • Tissue Sampling, here is a forum POST.
  • Sabotage Spire sites: Ricardo's video about poisoning task
  • Squadron Farming Spire sites, I don't think any information is needed, just pick random stream on youtube/twitch, is the abused "credit farm" of last months.
  • there is other tasks but let's keep this guide short.
ship builds are just examples and based on my playing style and unlocked modules, change at will, an example: Pacifier with 3C/F Frag but Rapid Fire/Incendiary is needed to wreak Orthus shield.

not 250+ pages, not complete, hope this is a good compromise :)

Well, having spent most of the day tweaking my engineering and replacing enhanced AX weapons with engineered ones, I successfully made it to Leigong in my newly shieldless Cutter with almost 7k hull and running at 17 heat, snuck up next to a heat vent to wait for it to open then stuffed a nanite torpedo in there. I think I got two or three more vents before they closed then I boosted over to the thermal core as fast as I could and gave it a good kicking with 4 engineered enhanced AX MCs and 2 Sirius AX MRs, and then bravely ran away once it closed. I definitely saw a blue text notice giving me around 300,000 credits for "thermal core damage contribution" so that is working in Solo mode at least. My ARX total hasn't updated since the 1st, so they must not be issued until a heart is completely killed, or some other criteria.

Repeated a couple more times until down to about 30% hull then successfully exfiltrated back to my carrier parked one system over - getting out of the cloud to jump is actually faster if you get caught by the pulse and boosted to about 1300 km/s, so that was interesting...

Applied to the Mobius PVE private group, so once that goes through it will be good to see how it goes with some other Cmdrs there. I did see a few NPC AX ships, but not sure what if anything they actually contributed.

Edit: I forgot to mention, is there actually any point using the pulse xeno scanner on the titan if you're just looking to shoot vents and core? I pulsed it a few times but it didn't seem much use.

PXS is for scanning where the Human captured pods are, you then need an extraction missile and collector limpets to get them, which I never did.

WD we are all learning here and getting better. I do it by trial and error (RP) and don't depend on AXI get good videos until I get fed up and about to leave.

I will put it in storage and go back to the enhanced scanner instead then.
Enhanced scanner is only if you want or need to see the type of Thargoid chasing you after interdiction - I just run away from all of them as per CMDR @Mechan.
Get an extra Caustic sink instead for more time in caustic (unless you have a massive Conda/Cutter of course, I use Krait II with only 4 utils)

I've been using the Cutter, shieldless and engineered for cold, it runs at 15-17% heat on full thrust and about 25% on boost, I can get through the caustic cloud without triggering any mines (unless I get unlucky and one moves into my path at the last minute) with only 2-3 sinks, so I think that's pretty good.

I've engineered a Krait as well, it is similar, maybe 17-20% heat but only 4k hull compared to almost 7k on the cutter and not as many weapons. It's more maneuverable though, cutter turns like an iceberg, so when I "git gud" enough at avoiding the damage I plan to swap over. Last solo bomb run I did in the cutter left me running away with about 25% hull left; so the Krait would have died, still more refinement to be done.
