Quick question about codex please

Currently out hunting barnacles and I'm not really sure how the codex works.

Reported: is this just the devs way of saying "look here" or has some other CMDR done something to initiate the reported tag?

Confirmed: When another CMDR discovers/confirms something, does it update my codex to show as confirmed? Or do I have to see it myself to have it confirmed?

Sorry I don't know but I find it funny that the tool they brought in to explain parts of the game needs it own explanation of how it works.

Nobody does ambiguous quite like FD

Reported means another commander has seen it. This info is shared with all commanders.

"Confirmed" happens when you go visit that sight. This only shows in your own codex, essentially your own personal found log.

Ha, its not as confusing as the new FSS scanner thankfully. I just came back from a long hiatus and my brain nearly imploded!

Thanks. I thought it strange all these barnacles might be undiscovered. Thought I was gonna be E: D famous!

Just to clarify, you don't have to "confirm" whatever it is at the site by actually going to that specific site - you can if you want to, but it isn't necessary.

If you find the same star/planet type, biological or geological feature elsewhere it will appear as "confirmed" in the Codex as well. In essence, you're confirming the existence of whatever is reported - not necessarily it's location (though you can if you'd like).
