Quick question regarding mining

Do people fill there cargo full of limpits?? Or half full? Trying to figure this out also fire groups are confusing me. I am in a group chat with me nephew atm so can’t watch YouTube Videos haha.

What he said^^^.
Take too many, after a few runs you'll get a feel for how many you need.
Always better to take too many.

So basically all low temp diamonds are stored In the bins correct?

Your bins will fill with anything you mine and be moved to the cargo hold automatically. They'll back up though if your hold is too full but you'll receive a notification on your HUD when that happens.

I take as many limpets as I can carry, abandon around 5 of them whenever I get the "Resources Unallocated" message ( which means all your refinery bins and cargo are full). Limpets cost essentially nothing.

I really appreciate all the responses I have gotten it doesn’t really address this in “most” YouTube Videos Except Hawkes Gaming if you read the forums I love your Videos but I have come to the conclusion Trading is more my Forte and not mining. Currently I am trading Gold in my Keelback and with 80 cube cargo hold gaining over 1.4 million within one Six Light year jump!!! Easy Space Chedder right there and a lot less work Lol!

Before you give up on mining, try laser mining for platinum.
The rewards will be much quicker than LTDs and much higher than gold trading.
Or dont :) its upto you in the end.

P.S. Metalic Pristine Belts. ;);)

It varies. In a metallic ring where I'm hoovering everything, half a hold of limpets is plenty. The same plan in an icy ring seems to need three quarters. A mining session where I only want one mineral type might need almost a full hold.

cargo full of limpits? Or half full?
I am more for leaving the cargo space half emtpy (of limpets). :)
No, seriously, I take about 4/5th, since the first core will give you about 10 tons while requiring 4 limpets.
And even then i throw about 40 of them away, usually.
Cores in my experience take 5-8 limpets to mine completely and deliver between 8 to 15 tons of ore.

Remember that you refinery can store up to 8 tons of cargo (xlass 4). I ususally vent the incomplete samples during the last core mining to fill them 100% with the current mineral.

If you ever run out of limpets, with 10 nickels and 10 irons and 4 emtpy cargo slots you can synthesize 4 of them afresh.

And do not use all of them up. On the way back to the station I usually need 1 to collect the leftovers of the pirates (which are engineered materials and therefore do not need cargo space).

I do take in like 65-80% of the cargo capacity in limpets. Depending what and where i mine.
Less if i go in a triple hotspot. More if i have no idea about material density

It's different everywhere you go and whether you're mining more than one commodity. In some places, you fill up very quickly and others take a lot longer and need more limpets. Also, you need fewer with core mining than laser mining because you don't need prospectors.

Actually i find core mining more demanding than laser mining in terms of limpet usage.
Especially when core densities are lacking.

Getting a core every 10 minutes means a new batch of collectors for each job.
And in certain situations they do die like crazy when picking up fragments near exploded cores.

Laser mining about 7/8ths full when I set off, if things go badly I will end up with some empty cargo capacity but if things go well I could be dumping excess limpets.
For various reasons I like to get my mining builds to have an hour to 90 minutes capacity, then back to the dock.

Maybe I misunderstand you, but IMO you definetly need prospector limpets for core mining, to identify the fissuers and their strength (not necessarily to see if an asteroid has a core, that you can determine by looking closely at the bright yellow rock with night vision or ship lights).
