Quicky question regarding PP and Open play

Hi, ive always played ED in Open play as i like the added danger / realism, ive never really looked much into power play, only using the bubble as a guide to populated space. My question is:

Are the human players involved in powerplay also present in Open, and if so how come im not seeing the 'faction wars' between PvP when i flying through the bubble, also how would you be able to identify which faction a cmdr is affiliated with?

Thanks

1) Some of them are, some of them aren't.

2) Relatively few systems are contested each week between powers who have a substantial number of Open players, so you probably won't stumble across one by chance. Power HQ systems may be busier.

3) Where an NPC would say its minor faction name on the scan, a player will say their power if they are affiliated to one.

Thanks, so to clarify

PowerPlayers are in existence in the Open play universe i play in, just i would have to be in one of the 'Hot systems' to most likely encounter yes?

So if i killed a Human player with say an Empire affiliation, would the Empire become and enemy to me and say the Feds more cordial?

You could encounter someone aligned to a power in any system, and where you're more likely to run into players in general, will also be the places where you're more likely to run into PP aligned Cmdrs.

It will show what power they are aligned to in your HUD, and yours in theirs.
There is an indicator if your factions(yours and another player's) are hostile to each other, and if your power is hostile to the system you are in.
Players might ignore you even if you're aligned to a hostile power.
Of course PP rivalries mean they won't get a bounty for attacking you, so don't count on being ignored.

All that said, you can pledge and have it not affect your gameplay at all.
That's the most common result, aside from PVP hotspots like CGs.
At those places you can expect to be attacked anyhow, and PP facilitates it.

Powerplay is entirely different than superpower allegiance.
PP = Li Yong Rui, Aisling Duval etc.
Superpower = Empire, Alliance, Feds

This pretty much.

Just to add to 2) In my experience in power HQ systems in Open most likely to find PVP. Cubeo for example very regularly gets raided by hostile powers. Can also find it in control systems to a lesser extent especially if can see from PP map that they are being undermined and before the weekly tick. If you know which systems where the mega squadrons pledged to an opposing power HQ out of then that also a good place to go hunting to intercept them there.
