Quieter footsteps

I purchased a G2 Maverick suit last night with the Quiter footsteps and tried to sneak up on some NPCs... Not really noticing much difference.🤔

Do you notice anything?

I did notice that the guard behavior was much better, a lot less shoot first and ask questions later... I walked in a building with one walking out, he something non aggressive manner but when I walked in to secure area he drew down on me and got aggressive. I turned and walked out of the building before he dropped his sights. He said some appropriate lines and we went our ways I half expected him to scan me (which would have been perfect) once we cleared the building but he didn't. Other encounters were much the same, escalate when a perceived threat happens, de-escalate when the situation is under control and compliance has been met.

Nice improvement and a bit more immersive.

It's better yes. Not silent though. It effectively reduces the range that any NPC will hear you from when runing or sprinting.

When running, you can get as close as when your arrow touches their arrow on the radar (about 2-3m distance, or "half way" across the radius of the red ring).

When sprinting, it's similar to when running without the mod (they'll hear you when they're just inside the red ring on the radar).

Crouching renders you silent (so you can get right up to touching distance and they won't hear your steps, although this can bug out when you cross a threshold sometimes). So if you're used to crouching all the time for stealth, this mod won't help you at all. Where it will help is getting through restricted zones very quickly (so long as you're not seen).

Ok, I thanks. I walk up on a few but didn't notice any difference. Not really helping me. Glad I didn't have to grind out this mod. It seems like a waste.

I think it should make you the same as couching when running and the same as running when sprinting, personally. It's too vague now, impossible to accurately detect what range you're going to get heard from and so... a bit for pro use only.

It really burns you when you waste time and mats on a mod that doesn't work with your play style or is ineffective.
Yup, I got burned with faster reload early on. At least you can try these things out with the premium items. Still wish we could remove mods at a loss of mats (but still get some mats back plus the slot back on the item) so you can try something and not feel totally annoyed if it doesn't work out.

I still got quieter footsteps, because I'll get some use out of it definitely. I just think it could be better.

I really got to the point last night with the mountains of data and other things that I needed to do the mods I want that I literally gave up and logged into Star Citizen.

I'm so frustrated with the fact that I can't trade data, that so much of what you collect is useless, that the in game information is nonexistent, that you can't remove a single mod from an otherwise good build and then make build even better with a more useful mod.

I bought a G3 Artimus suit yesterday with the melee upgrade on it... Now that's a great mod for that suit! 🙄

Wouldn't be great if we could move mods between suits? You could really experiment with your setup. I would look forward to engineering then.

Originally, outfitting ships was fun, play around with different loadouts was doable and interesting, yet didn't have the heavy penalties that engineering brought to the game.

It's the one thing that engineers killed. Mod something and it doesn't work out... My bad. Because I just wasted my time and materials to do something that I won't ever use. My storage is full of useless stuff... It drove me away from the game for over a year.

Let's face it, I don't do exploration so almost any other game will do. NMS is getting a lot of love lately and it has working VR.

Star Citizen is buggy but very interesting. The community is engaged and RSI is putting out some great things in the coming months.

The short comings of Elite are starting to chafe again... How much longer before I take a break again... Maybe never to return.

Glad I saw this thread - I've got my G5 Maverick 'Night' build with Night Vision, Sprint and Backpack and space for one more slot - think I'll go with this, being able to run behind their backs actually gives me loads of new options (timing is everything with stealth!). With my 'Daylight' (no Night Vision) build that currently only has Sprint, I'll not bother with Quieter Footsteps; with Backpack, that leaves 2 slots to go for other mods.

I like the new AI reaction when I enter a restricted area. IE: "get out or else"

It used to be the end of a mission and a quick trip to the prison ship plus a much longer trip back.

Star Citizen is for eternal optimists. Great things are always 'just around the corner'. More power to you.
The irony of making a post like this on the ED forum. 🤣

On second thought, they aren't even around the corner anymore for the time being.

You can trade data with other commanders.

There are definitely times I'm going to enjoy having QF. The agri gauntlet is one example.
