I've seen shock waves in an atmosphere but I haven't in space. all scifi movies show them like that- it is cool. And the way it impacted thip was also.

Just to restore the appropriate level of salt; wait 'til you start noticing all the chunks of ore that end-up stuck inside asteroid chunks, thus making them impossible to collect.

True everything else carries it's own ammo but limpets have to be carried in the cargo bay? Why? No reload- have to go to advanced? Why?

For me it's like the movies of the Lord of the Rings, in terms of coolness vs replication.

I knew for a fact that stuff would be different for a movie, because some stuff doesn't make good film even if it's good writing, and also time constraints. I loved the Tom Bombadil character, but for a movie he would have been drawn out and boring as eff (maybe a 2-3 episodes of a TV series could properly pace a live-action of that bit). But the stuff that they added or edited was still really enjoyable as a film, and didn't detract from the near-replication seen with many other novel elements.

In Elite, if the rockasploed is at least cool then I can live with its scientific inaccuracy. Has to be at least one of those. If it were both uncool and inaccurate then I'd have problems. Cool and accurate is best but one or the other is still decent.
