EDIT: The Race to Elite Competition is over - see the winners here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsjfRuUD4Ps
Frontier Developments is offering a separate £1,000 cash prize to the first player who attains Elite status for each of combat, trading and exploration, and a further £10,000 prize for the first player to attain the coveted Triple Elite status for total mastery of all three. Player’s choosing to claim one of the £1,000 cash prizes will make them ineligible for the ‘triple’ prize, though one player could get more than one of the £1,000 prizes.
Entrants must start from a fresh save on the release version of Elite: Dangerous, starting with the Sidewinder and 1,000 CR, and use ‘Open Play’ multiplayer mode only. They can use the slight advantage of the Eagle starship offered as part of Elite: Dangerous’ Mercenary Edition, but otherwise it should be a level playing field. If in Frontier’s sole opinion, there has been any cheating, then an entry may be disallowed.
This is a skill-based competition with the following prizes for the first person to reach:
1. Elite in combat - £1,000 or $1,500 or €1,200*
2. Elite in exploration - £1,000 or $1,500 or €1,200*
3. Elite in trading - £1,000 or $1,500 or €1,200*
4. Elite in all three - £10,000 or $15,000 or €12,000*
To qualify you must:
a. Start on or after release of the full game (for some this will mean you will have to voluntarily clear you save on or after the release)
b. Start with the Sidewinder start position and 1000 CR.
c. Not cheat. We will manually look at the save files of the potential winners to verify this. The winners will be determined in our sole opinion and our decision is final.
d. If you choose to claim one or more of the £1,000 prizes you are ineligible for the £10,000 prize.
e. Play wholly in Open Play mode (not solo or friends groups)
f. Participation is subject to the payment of any prize not being prohibited under or contrary to applicable law in your country.
f. Not be an employee of Frontier Developments, or family members or direct associates. Ambassadors are OK.
There is no time limit. When there is a winner in any of the categories, we will announce it here on the forums (and elsewhere).
Note: those who pre-ordered or backed the game may get a slight benefit from their starting second ship (the free Core Dynamics Eagle).
* currency as applicable
