Community Event / Creation Radio Sidewinder is broadcasting

Been listening to it for an hour or two now and I definitely like it very much!

But I also know what someone meant when they said it's a bit too much on the soft-ish tracks.

I also got an idea how to maybe solve this imbalance of musical scales.
Would it be possible to have the listeners queue a specific song every 2 or 3 songs?
For example you list all the tracks that you actually could play and the radio will be composed from the user requests (which are chosen from the track-list and played every 2 to 3 songs), the regular playlist + the "ingame"-ads

If this suggestion has already been made, I apologize sincerely, I didn't read all the 7 pages of this thread^^
Hello Commander Crotaro,
Thanks for your suggestion. At the moment that wouldn't work with the way it is set up on our broadcasting platform. Being able to play user requests and broadcast them shortly after is something that we might do eventually though.
I have been adding users/listeners requests into the playlist already, but it isn't immediate like a "request show"... yet. :)

Awww too bad because I really love it when there's this automated mechanic/bot that lets listeners influence the playlist to a certain extend. It definitely helps a lot to mix it all up :3

Tried checking RS and this popped up. I guess this site is so popular we need to donate to get more bandwidth. :)

Yes, sorry about that. We exceeded our bandwidth, but I upgraded the plan and it is back up now. The Radio Sidewinder stream was still broadcasting whilst the site was down. :)

Hey there Black Bart, I'd be wiling to do some news recordings. My mic isn't incredible but I think my radio voice is alright. PM me if you need some more newsies!

Hello Commander, I have pm'ed you, but in case anyone else is interested in volunteering...
we need another roaming reporter - someone who can go out there, find the stories, write a short report and record it.

A word of warning - it does take up quite a bit of time. The existing reporters have some contacts in the clans so they get some stories from there. They also fly the big community goals and report on them. You could also report on the information on the ED Reddit sub. If anyone is interested please get in contact. :)

+rep from me too! Only yesteday heard about the channel, been listening to the channel the whole day at work now, very good music selection (I am an ambient/chill-out fan) and nice news broadcasts!

Can't wait to get home, launch ED and listen to the channel while playing the game. :)

Better late than never! :p

Stumbled across Radio Sidewinder just over a month ago, can't get over how well put together it is.

Ideal choice when playing, great music selection, news and not forgetting the adverts "Bang & the Pirates are gone" :D Currently exploring, so the news is a great way to keep up to date with what's happening back in populated space, even though it makes you feel slightly home sick and you feel like you're missing out on events :(

Spread the word Commanders!!

Great job Black-Bart et al & keep up the good work!!

Indeed! I listened to Radio Sidewinder while playing yesterday, and at one point they were playing Sleeping Satellite just as I jumped into a system with a big bright main star and a red dwarf really close, visible from my Cobra's side window (I'm playing in Oculus Rift). Listening to that song, and the Crockett's Theme that followed it, while looking out at the stars and bright planets all around, gave me one of those "wow, life is great!" feelings.

Lovely combination while exploring, OR DK2 and Radio Sidewinder!

My wingman and I were both listening to radio-sidewinder the other day while playing. There was an ambient electronic tune playing as I was fuel scooping, then precisely at the moment I got interdicted a more up-tempo song started playing and lasted exactly the duration of the combat, and finally I enjoyed a relaxing orchestral piece as I supercruised to the station.

I'm trying to add this to my Voice Attack as a command so I can call Radio Sidewinder up whenever I feel like it in game :)

Text-to-voice for the news updates? NICE. Keep things simple, sounds pretty decent. Lets you update regularly with minimal effort.

Oh wait, another report was an actual voice. Okay, mixing things up. :)

Just wanted to say I LOVE your station. Reminds me of what made the later Fallout games so immersive, being able to hear theme-appropriate tunes while just walking around, getting news and information, or just colorful commercials and reports.

But whereas the Fallout radio ended up running out of songs and repeating a lot (as did the news and stories), Radio Sidewinder will just keep on being new and not repeat songs nearly as much.

It's a little thing, but it's a great thing. The only way I could imagine it being better is if there were a couple of other stations with different formats to flip to. :D

What I would like to see is scheduled time slots were you record live.. During that you should take live calls via skype or something. Or take song requests etc.

Just one more pointless post heh....

I am very happy to see that radio sidewinder is growing and evolving in case of music and news in the direction that i love it and for me is becoming a part of ED game.
Thank you Bart and thanks for all the ppl involved in creating radiosidewinder !

By pointless post i mean it doesnt bring anything new but my warm feelings to all of you who are creating this great radio :D

Is there any chance of Radio Sidewinder branching off to allow for different formats? I'd love to have, say, Radio Cobra whose music was a bit more pumped up as a rule. Sidewinder tends to be mostly slow, moody ambiance when I tune in. Not a bad thing, but I would like to be able to change channels when the mood is appropriate ;)

Both stations could share commercials and news (with minor tweaks to distinguish stations).

Get radio-sidewinder in your cockpit with the ED-Board plugin for overwolf!

It's super simple to set up and hardly takes any time at all.

That is great! Thanks, I love how people are integrating Radio Sidewinder into other apps.

We are working on a proper schedule for stuff. Live shows and "phone ins" are all things in the pipeline. :)

Thanks again Commander XYZ! Myself and the RS team are working hard on making it even better. We miss your news tip offs.

Thanks for your comments Cmdr Mossfoot. Having a more upbeat station is something that I have been considering. A few people have suggested it. We need to get Radio Sidewinder working smoothly and efficiently first. Would anyone else like to have a more upbeat station with faster music?
