Just throwing it out there I was wondering what you guys would think of a radio stations, not always listening to my own music and would be nice to listen to someone talking about the events going on and having talk sessions as well as music... Basically like listening to the radio in the car. There could be a universal radio and stations for federation, empire, alliance aswell

At the moment I enjoy the default music though have noticed it does tend to repeat quite quickly. So more music needed (perhaps) and maybe context or region sensitive. To licence real music for faux radio stations (like GTA does) would probably cost a fortune. And what people (might) listen to in the 34th century would bear no relation to the music popular now. News would somehow have to be procedurally generated which would involve a sophisticated audio generation algorithm.
Once I get fed up with the supplied music, I'll set the slider to 0 and stack some tracks on Media Player to run in the background.

Well, GalNet audio is coming… I would suspect due to IP any such music would have to be created in house by FDev so it would have to be paid content in the store. Sure, I'd buy an Empire music radio station but I suspect for such a niche product it wouldn't be worth the investment. The are online Elite radio stations and a google search would bring them up. I don't listen to them so can't vouch but http://laveradio.com/ is one that comes to mind.
A radio station? For Elite Dangerous? You mean a radio station that broadcasts 24/7? A radio station that is role played as though it was an actual radio station set in the ED universe? One that has news reports, music, information on in-game events and adverts for in-game items?

You mean a radio station that can be listened to via just about any audio streaming program including VLC which has an elite dangerous skin and can be put on top of the game interface so you can listen and see the songs being played? That also is an in game faction and has their very own discord that anyone can join? wow I do not think anyone would listen to that.
I was pootling out Lave way the other day and bumped into a Radio Station in SC... dropped out into normal space and was confronted by a "pirate" radio station "????Lave Radio????" operating out of a stationary Sidewinder....can't remember if this was "Lave Radio" or "Radio Sidewinder" but it did say "The best broadcast hits this side of Diso....we'll be right back after these messages from our sponsors" ... or something like that...lol

I think a few other factions have their own stations. But you need to start up your radio player before you get into the cockpit, as the radio is out of reach of the pilot's seat....

If you have Voice attack you may set up a macro that launches your media player and starts a playlist. For most web stations it is either a M3U or PLA so I personally turn off almost all the in game sounds, tell astra play radio sidewinder which starts the player, begins the playlist link to the radio station so the only thing I have to do is click the always on top thing and the skinned player is on my hud. Adjust the volume so that ASTRA and Rasio sidewinder do not fight in my ears.
+1 to this Idea. I would be good at least to have it at the ship's computer instead of rely on third party programs. I love the audio function of Elite Companion App: http://edcodex.info/?m=tools&entry=212 . I even have spotify support, I only find annoying having this app on top of the game all the time. I wish I could have the some controls at the right panel of my ship (volume control, change radio station or spotify playlist, etc...) without rely on voiceatack or control it with my mobile phone.
