Newcomer / Intro "Raider" ship add on

I was fiddling around in livery and noticed you can buy add-ons to customise the look of your ship. I saw one called "Raider" for the AspX that puts a kind of cage over the cockpit.

I suspect this is cosmetic only and doesn't affect ship behaviour but I did wonder if you can see the cage wotsit from your cockpit. If so, it would obscure vision somewhat wouldn't it?

I did buy a paint job - Apollo Black - and I'm contemplating a Union Jack for my Cobra. Hope it doesn't spoil my faction or lead to NPC's taking offence...

Yes and yes but not really.

You can see it and it is in the way but it is not that bad. It just looks stupid so I never fitted it again after the first time. I only ever use the corroded paint jobs that come with the kit - I am too much of a goody-two-shoes to go about in a ship with bad-boy appearance.

It's ok and looks great for a far explorer Asp. Mine is completely beat up, but one of my favorite ships in the game, my very first explorer. Parked in Colonia right now....

Nasty looking, Shir. I like it. And Tyres, if it floats your boat, there's nothing wrong with it. I find some of those spoilers and wings do add some positive styling. I had some spare pocket change for a... ummm... change and wanted to do something special for Canada Day. Sure, not the most original photo op, but I liked it.

To answer your question, Tyres, I'm sure it's all cosmetic. Otherwise you'd be giving a "pay to win" advantage to the buyer, however minor.

Ship kits are purely visual, though in my head the Raider shipkits totally ruin the ship's integrity. fitting all sorts of random things to a high-tech space ship makes it instable in my book. Great tribute to Firefly though...

Ship kits. I’m not sure I can trust myself to make a half decent decision with these things. I’ve been contemplating sticking the Eiffel Tower kit on my Canonn Science Krait so what would I know about anything
