Shouldn't be offended. We're a violent species regardless of any advances we make and there will always be those who will be more scared (or territorial) than interested, thus shooting first. As far as Elite is concerned, with it being a virtual environment where you're rewarded for shooting things, the answer is obvious. I still find it too bad, but not at all surprising and definitely not offensive.
