Random Button pushes?

Not sure if anyone else is getting this, but starting last night I have been experiencing random button pushes. For example, without touching my system, my map would suddenly open. Or I would suddenly go into reverse. Another common one, is my cargo scoop being deployed.

I just bought the Saitek X-55, everything has been working fine but I'm not sure if there is a problem with the Joystick or the game or something else? The joystick is only 2 days old. If it's the joystick and there is a problem, I want to return it right away.

Thanks
:rolleyes:

X55 has a lot of switches and detent's. Make sure things like dials are centered, any toggles are set to "off" and that your axis are setup properly and calibrated.

Make sure your fingers aren't accidentally touching buttons. This happens to me without noticing it, distracted enough in the game that those little nerves in my fingers don't get transmitted to the brain properly. :D

Thanks for the replies, I will check everything. It could just be me pushing buttons, but the map popping up without me touching the controls is what got me curious. I will look at the toggles too.

I got the X55 Rhino just recently too and noticed the same thing so it's not just you. It doesn't happen very often and I haven't bothered looking into it in detail yet.

Oh good to know. I did read on a review site (newegg.ca) I believe about ghost buttons. So this could be what they are talking about. Hopefully it's something that can be fixed with new drivers.

If the joystick were firing by itself you should be able to see that happening in the device control panel.

Go through each control and button using each gently and then with more force and look to see if any of the other controls change.

It is a known problem and admitted my Saitek.

There are few possible workaround for this problem. Some say put the device on USB3 ports... other say external usb hub.

I went for a external USB hub. All my USB ports are USB3, the device seems to behave perfectly on a external USB hub. Didn't even had to power it.

Hope this helps... Fly safe.

Personally, I'd RMA it, and get a HOTAS that's not faulty rather than rely on 'workarounds'.

Consider the CH products stuff.

Like as in real live: DRINK OR DRIVE, don't do 'em at the same time!

:D :D :D

I use a X52pro and had the same problem yesterday (for the first time). In my case it was the cargo scoop, for which I have a button mapped on the joystick but am 100% I didn't push it accidentally. I wasn't sure if this was a problem of the joystick, its software, the game or even windows. Glad to see I am not the only one having that problem.

I've used Saitek for a couple of years (first an x52 pro and now an x65f), and my experience with them is that their drivers seem to be getting worse with every new version.

I play a lot different flight games and they unfortunately all suffer from from the same problems.

I had a Saitek stick years ago and it broke far to easy. I then purchased a logitech 3d pro.

That was over 6 years ago, guess what stick I am using for ED today?

Yup that same old Logitech 3d pro. Apart from needing some of the baseplate buttons cleaned and tightened, its still as good as the day I bought it. Would definitely buy another one if I was forced to. Superbly robust imo.

Sounds like a bad stick. Try reinstalling the software first, and if that doesn't fix it RMA it with all haste. I use some of Saitek's stuff every now and then but I'll be the first to admit their Q.C. is non-existent.

It's a Saitek driver problem with Windows 8.1. It's not the stick, so need to RMA it, as some have suggested. On my system the problem is solved by disabling legacy usb in bios. I'd try that first, as it's worked for most people.

Hmm... A common problem, which is usually solved by plugging it into the powered USB hub.

You can also try:
plugging it in the different USB ports;
Turning off the LEDs;
Disabling USB legacy support in BIOS.

I had this problem too and found it to be a common issue (google X55 ghost keys), something to do with the X55 and I think AMD USB ports... I bought a cheap external USB hub and it solved the issue, haven't had a random key pressed that wasn't my clumsiness since.

(edit) I response to the above, the external USB hub I bought was powered, but I've never actually powered it and it works a treat.

Well, I unplugged and plugged into another USB3. I then re calibrated and so far so good. I'll have to look up the legacy support in the bios. It's a new computer running the Asus Deluxe x99 with windows 7. So far my computer/graphics barley turns on while running this game (which is good compared to other games).

Hopefully the fix will stay, if not I will try a usb hub.

Mmmmm... The X99 chipset could be an issue too. Asus has had a lot of problems with the firmware on that board.
