Newcomer / Intro Ranking up Federation

I am trying to rank up (federation) using the D2EA solution but it is painfully slow. I am hopping between Ochosi and Chakpa but just not getting the missions. It is taking hours just to rank up one level. I have been doing it all day but getting nowhere fast. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe try switching systems cmdr as sometimes the system state can make it harder, have you tried the Ceos<>Sothis route?
EDIT: Try to get allied with all factions in your chosen pair of systems, as mission rep rewards will improve.

Can't really help you with regards to where you are now, but ranking up in the federation (or empire) is probably best done by finding a system with two or three superpower aligned factions as any missions you take from them will contribute towards your progress, so the more superpower aligned factions the more opportunities you will have. Also worth noting that combat based activities are better for ranking up than other activities such as deliveries.

Also worth bearing in mind that just like all progress in this game, the higher you get the longer it takes, so each rank you progress to will take longer than the previous one(s).

I am allied with all federation factions between the two systems. I am just not getting enough missions and this means it is a very slow progress to rank up. I reckon it has taken me 6 hours to gain one rank. I am only doing courier type missions FYI.

Federation rank is a lot slower than empire rank, but the first few lower ranks aren't normally too bad, so your progress does seem slower than normal. Once I had decided to consciously rank up to gain access to a ship, I used ceos<>sothis, it does get grindy the further you progress and the latter ranks are ridiculously slow. Sometimes a change of systems is as good as a rest, and you normally can fill up your mission slots between those 2 systems as the controlling minor faction is the same in both and is fed aligned and controls most of the stations, give it a go cmdr.

The problem is I have invested a lot of time becoming allied with the factions and would have to start again in a new two system solution.

Yes, understood cmdr, but sometimes you have to change it up if you want different results, and you can always return to flogging that dead horse if it doesn't work out!

Many of the missions in those two systems are data delivery missions to the other system. So you just hop back and forth between them which is a short 9lyr jump, grabbing as many rep++ missions that you can plus any other missions that catch your eye for a higher rep or boredom breaker.

I found that I ranked up quicker doing combat and bounties by blasting enemies with an equal or higher rank than me.

As soon as I hung about in nav beacons and chose sides in a CZ it went up pretty quickly.

Good luck!

Not the same thing mate.

The best way to rank up with superpowers is rescuing unfortunate souls from burning stations in my view. Doesn't help much at the mo I am afraid, with no burning stations and all.

Superpower rank is too tedious and since I don't want any of the big, rank-locked ships I have essentially ignored it through my Elite career. It comes as it does, but after several years playing this game I am still not near the top of the superpower ranks and am not bothered by it at all. I got a Sol permit and a Courier and that's all I need :)

Sothis/Ceos are in boom state (at least the owners are) currently, so if you have a decent amount of cargo space, the boom time deliveries are your best shot for rank ups.

You get much more rank altogether from those as opposed to report deliveries.

My God will this madness never end!!! I have been grinding this fed ranking all week and still have a bit more to do. I reckon it's had over 20 hours. I keep getting attacked by NPCs because of the mission I am on. I lost a ship this week doing this rank up for the first time since around March when I first started out (and picked on a police vessel).

I am having to take all the missions that I can regardless of faction. It means a lot of jumping around and coupled with the NPC attacks and the distances to some stations this is a very stressful adventure to get my Corvette (not to mention the time cost). But I will try and put the hours in this weekend and get my Corvette (which I dont need/want or have a use for - just want to know I could if I wanted it).

It took me several weeks of 60-90 minutes per day doing mostly donation missions with data courier missions thrown in and the occasional cargo mission, but this was when FDev had the special offer running with the higher rate ranking but I was mostly operating from Sol which provides lots of outbound missions but as it is rank restricted access you can't get return missions. I was starting from a rank or two below Captain.
It is the nearest I have done to a proper grind and I doubt I will do it again but the Corvette is a splendid ship to fly and with a Guardian booster not too embarrassing in terms of jump range.

We need more thargoid attacks on stations...rescue missions were that fastest rank-up ever, about 10% increase per round trip in a Beluga, and the trips were a short supercruise in-system of less than a minute. That's how I did my rank...it took just a few hours. Too bad the developers seem to have abandoned the Thargoid story

I am sure something has changed with this federation rank up method. I keep getting interdicted by attacking NPCs (not pirates but ships sent against me) amd I have lost 2 ships so far and several times I have been interdicted and then again straight afterwards. There are very few missions between Ochosi and Chapka and so I have to look at other systems too.

I have spent 400 million between the imperial rank up and so far on the federation one. Thats 400 MILLION and it has still taken over 20hours just on the fed rank up alone. I am drained from the experience of being on the look out for attackers as they are regular.

What a pavalova!

Something I have noticed is that when using SCA I get pulled out of interdiction really quickly and every time. If I switch SCA off before anyone gets to me (when notifed they are coming) then I can escape the interdiction pretty much every time.
