Rant: Frontier and closure of threads.

If they can fix the ridiculously overpriced new store and start treating their consumers like they care about them at all, I have a ton of friends and myself who are more than willing to invest thousands collectively into this game.
I don't think the price of the release copy is that high at all.

You are complaining of the fact that you are forced to pay a steep price for upping to alpha at this point - even though Frontier _specifically warned_ people that the arrival of the store would end the easy pledge upgrade path. It is a store now, not a continuation of the Kickstarter pledge system. The fact that they offer upgrade at all is customer service - because so many people asked for it after they started viewing the gameplay videos. But Frontier cannot offer the upgrade for free because that would anger the Kickstarter backers.

Remember, there was ample warning before the pledge channel closed and the store opened. Don't complain if you were just slow to take advantage of it.

If you feel that strongly about it speak to your credit card company.

Otherwise accept the decision by FD and the fact you made a mistake in your haste to join the Elite.

If the excuse is that one poster was immature so that justifies our being immature

No one is making that argument. In fact, I don't see anyone replying to OP doing so in an immature way

it is time to consider that not posting at all is a better contribution than posting immature and non-productive responses

If forum members disagree with OP's observation, who are we to them how we expect them to express it?

I reckon I'm a right idiot for spending so much money. I must be lacking in intelligence, ignorant and should have known better. Obviously, I cannot be trusted to make my own decisions.

Threads that stray into something else than topic should be closed, after warning(s). Period. It's irrelevant what they stray into.

caveat emptor.

i'm still struggling with the distinction between 'real working people' and 'elite fanboy'

what is required to be a 'real working person' and how does it disbar one from being an 'elite fanboy'?

Sour grapes isn't it? ;)

I have an idea but apologies in advance if it is breaking the EULA of the game. If it is please ignore.

The OP said he only wants a refund for the products not used... so presumably beta1 and below. I am not offering this myself but, perhaps someone would be interested in buying his account for the 100 quid the op seems to be looking for. There is much potential there for 2 people to benefit, the op as well as a cheap upgrade for someone. (As well as an extra copy of the game)

Just trying to offer constructive solution :)

Is there a definitive list anywhere as to what was included in the £200 Kickstarter package but not in the £200 store package?

@Droolguy

Sorry to hear about your troubles. What I can say is that I think the Alpha was originally scheduled for December/January during the kickstarter but it is now running into February and maybe even March. So if you think about it you are getting better value for money.

Personally, I am at 'Founders' level and would have upgraded to Alpha if I hadn't had battered my credit card over the Christmas period. A pity really because i would have loved to have taken part in the planned 'Free for all' multiplayer scenario.

and here's me thinking I was both ;)

well, yes. i was only able to be an 'elite fanboy' (ie back the kickstarter) because i had money available (from being a 'real working person')

does this mean we've been insulted?

:D

Same here, though I dunno if I'm a 'fanboy'. I loved the original ELITE back in the day, and I have some great expectations of what I'd like E : D to be (and so far it is looking to meet my expectations) - does that mean I am a 'fanboy'?

Quite possibly/probably ;)

I want to see the fanboy requirements list and see if I qualify or not. I might be siding with the wrong type of riffraff :)

i've noticed in other game forums that the term 'fan boy' tends to be applied to anyone who has anything positive to say about the game in question. it is usually used in a derogatory manner.

In the same way someone may refer to another as an 'Apple fanboi' because they themselves prefer non-Apple products... it's not a friendly term ;)

There is absolutely no reason why you can't voice your opinions in a reasoned manner. Personal attacks will not be tolerated. Read your post, consider if it's going to be seen as baiting and if so, change it before we change it for you and hand out infractions.

Yeah, sorry about that. Usually I get away with drunk-posting, but last night a friend brought over some barley wine and that stuff is both dangerous and mood-altering...

My apologies to Droolguy. There's more than one way I'm regretting my actions this morning.
