Rant: Frontier and closure of threads.

whilst it is a weekend and droolguy is probably off doing his own thing, i would be interested to see if he has considered simply selling his account less the price of alpha access. He did say he was happy with a refund of all but the alpha pack, which is by my reckoning £100.

No mod or employee responded to my post saying that would be against ED policy. AND that would be a way of somoene getting the game, alpha, beta AND DLC for half price. if i was not already in for £90 i would be all over that.

Of course if the OP thinks that is an unfair price, then that flies in the face of what he said about only wanting a refund on the parts which he had not used, which would mean he was just stirring imo.

as it stands now it does look like he pulled the pin on this thread then ran ;)

I think the alpha as a late backer myself is still reasonable value. Get the game early play the different alphas and all the future expansions.

Before i bought the game i'd read up exactly what i was going to get and found that yes KS backers got more but I took that on the chin and patted the virtual backs of the people that had the faith to back it with so much money way back when and the game got funded and made!

Win! For everyone!

In my mind and the vastest majority of peoples minds i think.

Indeed. As an original backer the £200 Alpha access included access to all future expansions, which right now is valued at £35 I think. That's a pretty good deal, in my eyes at least.

Could we not have a 'Complaints' section on the forum? That would give people an outlet, while not clogging the General section with stuff that most of us don't really want to be bothered with.

I really like this idea! Not only does it free up other forums for life affirming posts like "Omg I love fly by wire" but it also keeps legitimate complains out in the open where people can find them, not burried away in the depths of a "general" forum.

For instance, I'd like to "complain" about the shop not having kickstarter perks. If we had a nice complaints forum, I could browse it quickly to make sure the arguments haven't already been made.

+1!

So, there have been 11 pages posted since I looked last night.

Give me a minute to read them all so that I can respond appropriately.

There is the perspective that if you have a legitimate complaint and it's relevant to a current subject then there is no need to siphon it off to a complaints section. A complaint or a negative view is every bit as relevant as the positive and it should be delivered in the same considered way. Threads get closed and posts deleted when they're attacks on other members or if they run out of constructive critique and end up circular (which is when people resort to playground tactics in argument).

We're not here to quash opinion or discussion but to attempt to prevent people getting abusive to others. We have a great community here that has its roots in respectful and entertaining discussion. That's what we are attempting to maintain, and for the most part you guys are right on the same page and do yourselves proud.

Also, no, I don't consider access to the alpha or beta valuable at all. Your doing a job for Frontier, you shouldn't have to pay them for it.
I cant believe the entire thread has gone for long enough to run it's course, back 'n forth wearing down a path to nowhere, finally digging a rut to China, and kept on going beyond, to travel unexplored galaxies, unknown universes...

And nobody else has caught this very basic mistake in the OPs words?
Job by definition is a contract for hire that parties agree to, and must exchange something for something, usually compensation for tasks performed.

Buying into alpha is a purchase no different conceptually than buying your first remote controlled model aircraft, testing it, and crashing it.. its YOUR hobby, YOU chose to risk your money on it.. and nobody is going to REFUND you for it..

Forget all the silly biscuit posts which fail to mention partially eaten food being returned slobbered with your DNA and bacteria all over it.. we have health laws for that kind of thing..

Failure to read the web page you came from, and yet FAILURE to yet read again on the web page you arrived, which is asking for money was the OP's main fault, and it was admitted by so many people including the words of the OP himself so that ...

I THINK WE GET THE MESSAGE

and do not need to continue seeing more people posting the same conclusion again and again.

An experienced man learns from his mistakes, an even more experienced wise man learns from the experienced mans mistakes.

MODs, time to close this.

Don't worry about any congressional debate on this. The moderation team has been keeping a very close eye on this thread and it's on eggshells. If there isn't constructive contribution beyond what has already been said and not just saying the same thing over and over just in different ways then it'll be closed. I might point out that when a thread is closed, it's still readable, still searchable and still on public record.

the guy had his rant.... the reposts were posted. smash the shells.

I'm sure it comes as no surprise that this is getting closed. It's by consensus with the moderation team and we don't think there is any need to go into depth for the reasoning.

If the OP would like for the thread to be re-opened then by all means contact one of the moderation team outlining if there are any further points to be made that haven't already.

To be fair there is a lack of professionalism on the moderation of the forums with posts being deleted without real cause. If you've invested in this game then even the negative posts should be addressed in a professional way.
People have concerns and frankly the whole Online Store has been handled very poorly using the word "Discount" for access to Alpha particulary misleading.

Perhaps in future have a policy and stick with it and allow those who have paid for this venture to have their say good or bad.

This type of moderator bashing is not welcome here, if you disagree with a mod's decision then report it through the proper channels. They do a great job in difficult circumstances.

People are welcome to discuss anything within the remit of the boards, if a thread gets out of hand for whatever reason it will be closed. It is encumbent on posters to make sure threads stay on topic and show the proper respect to each other, if they don't then we'll close the thread and issue penalties to the posters.
