Y'know what really ticks me off? When you sink countless hours into building up your arsenal, only to have it wiped out in one fell swoop. To make it worse, I only get one chance to repurchase my ship. FIX YOUR , FRONTIER!! Add an insurance agent/contact or something that can give other players the opportunity to repurchase their ship. Until then, you will receive no more of my business. Good day, and thank you for making me waste my time.

Long story short: ship got biffed. At no point was it implied that if I couldn't afford to rebuy my ship, that I would lose the ship permanently. As I stated in the initial post, they need to add an insurance contact, so that there is more than one opportunity to rebuy.

I see, well that indeed sucks. Just take it in stride and as a l warning experience.
For now though a break is good. I usually do after a loss, then come back and go over how not to do that thing that got me killed.

The game warns you about the rebuy issue on the load screen if I remember correctly, but I guess if you're new that might not mean much. Welcome to Elite Dangerous! You're gonna learn some painful lessons over the next few months, because this game does not hold your hand when you're new.
I remember sulking for a whole week after getting killed repeatedly after stacking missions out of Leonard Nimoy station! I learned 2 valuable lessons from that: don't stack missions, and buy Horizons asap so you can engineer your ship so you're harder to kill and the npc's are easier to kill. Once your ship is engineered you can then ignore lesson 1...

Fair comment, I suppose.
In this new "fluffy bunny" paradigm that FDev seem intent on creating, maybe there could be some kind of "Insurance Log" of your destroyed ships and then, even after a ship gets exploded and you don't have the rebuy, you could earn the required credits and then go to an "Insurance Agent", click on the ship you want to rebuy and get it back.
Basically, it'd just give players a chance to correct a mistake - and learn from it - without losing a ship they've put a heap of effort into.
Course, OTOH, I'm also in favour of people not getting engineered modules back after a rebuy.
I've played the game for almost a year now, l've watched hundreds of videos, read thousands of forum pages, posted dozens of questions, but I have never RTFM!
