There still seems to be a few people that think Online: Solo is easier than Online: Open Play.
The main threat comes from NPC's. The vast majority of encounters will be with NPC's unless you are in what is considered a core system.
The game will be more difficult upon release. The only added danger in Open Play will be in an anarchy systems anyway and I suspect that a lot of people will avoid anarchy systems for that reason.
Player encounters will be rare outside the core systems. People who think Online: Solo will be easier after release are in for a bit of a shock.
