I wonder If they might be exploration drones that were supposed to be in the game? I think they were going to be used to set up nav beacons/finding a jump path to unexplored systems.
I spotted a post by someone who made it to the galactic core already so maybe they change that.
Just got back from work so I need to check out what happened to the rare goods!
but I must say it doesn't sound good, I enjoyed spending a few hours doing missions and hanging around a system slowly stocking up.
Might have to trade in for a lacon 6 at launch, should be able to make a sweet 1.5-2M per trip no problems!
Checking last night the respawn rate is still the same so when you exhaust one stock you will need to wait a day or so to get another hold's worth so expect to do a lot of moving about working the different systems.
Also the Lakon has tissue paper sheilds and I have had a couple of close calls with NPC pirate vipers who got me down to 50% hold as the FSD took an age to get back online for whatever reason.
I now have a basic ASP and with 80 ton capacity it has a lot more sturdy sheilds as well as larger fuel tank.
Also looking at ship and module prices I reckon I need 50million of kit on the ASP to get it to how I want it and the Anaconda is almost 150 million for the basic ship.
Also I have been studying on how trading/exploration gets faction rating.
30 star systems scanned with the detailed system scanner and sold at a station got me to "Allied" status with that faction yet selling 3 million worth of goods only got me to "Friendly" with another.
Also it seemed that once I got to the better faction rating stations were more likely to offer me a whole lot better ship modules, the ASP 64 ton hold did not appear for several hours then suddenly when I got friendly at a high tech station it popped up as well as a whole load of fuel scoops mining gear, fuel tanks and other stuff I have not seen anywhere else as replacements.
but it is difficult to say at the moment if faction opens up more gear I need to get more stations up to freindly and allied and see.
