and thats why sothis is a clear winner and choice theres a gold selling station in the same system. Plus its as far from sol as u can get, meaning only the most committed types will travel the 500LY to partake in the community goal

Doesn't sound like much of a challenge once you get there. Plus, 500LY is nothing in the current age of the 1000LY route plotter. (If this happened in Gamma, however, when no such route plotter existed...)

The main reason for sothis is its the most distant colony with a station and terraforming colony on it. Anywhere in the galaxy. In terms of distance from sol.

Oh, there you are Perry!

Been thinking more about this. The gold one is the best for lots of good reasons.

1) It doesnt mess up Lore.
2) It takes us out of the bubble to explore... Aliens, Unknown Aretfacts, Thargoids and other possible encounters
3) It's not being stupid
4) it's not being clever
5) It's not on Power Play territory
6) It's been decently thought out
7) The recent Community Goals have lacked luster
8) There's gold involved on a long trek. Bring on the Pirates, Traders, Miners, Explorers and Bounty Hunters.
9) I think it's an independent terra formed system which is pretty cool.
10) All list should go up to ten.

It would be a shame to wast this opportunity for some decent game play on a daft goal

The Dream Cream!!!

Why?? It's trippy!! Couldn't help but think of onion head while reading the description!!

I love those kind rares that cause a polemic around them, like I see this drug been banned in all Federation! And nothing is more lovely than smuggling those forbidden substances into their bases where their double standard leaders go and get them by the tons!

Yes!! Bring on another psychedelic substance into this already effed up galaxy!!

I think that everyone (except the person who came up with the idea for that mug) deserves huge credit for coming up with decent suggestions.

I like the concept of the Sothis Crystalline Gold and especially the Yamazaki Dream Cream. If I wasn't the person behind the Platypus proposal, I'd consider the Yamazaki Dream Cream too, as it's a cleverly thought out commodity and the presentation and pitch was good.

With the Vargerson Platypus, we've already got a Radio Sidewinder advertisement prepped, plus a Radio bulletin ready for airing. You can listen to the radio news article HERE which is ready for uploading, courtesy of Radio Sidewinder.

One little extra.

The advert for the Vargerson Platypus that will accompany the news if selected and will air as a future advert on Radio Sidewinder (they do a number of futuristic adverts - listen to the station at www.radiosidewinder.com) reads as:

Looking for a Pate (pronounced Patay) that is out of this world?

Seeking the culinary experience of a lifetime?

Willing to pay those extra credits for a rare fine food?

Then look no further than the Vargerson Platypus

Available in the finest of dining establishments throughout the Federation

The Vargerson Platypus, Food To Die For.

I'm hurt!

This is the same species that came up with the mankini, the selfie stick, the straw donkey to bring back from holiday, the crazy frog ringtone (which made billions), Dale Winton, the Renault Twingo, Country & Western music, the Kardashians and Crocs.

There were a zillion and one suggestions that were posted up (ok, maybe a couple of hundred) - it was definitely in the 10 least silly. Maybe the least 50. OK, it wasn't the silliest.

I just can't resist...MUG!!!
o7 to Psykokow and all the Commanders entertaining us with the brillant Dockers-episodes!

It's a shame that the MUG won't be located at Barnard's Star...perhaps for the next rare item?

I think some of the comments in this thread don't pay enough respect to 210 commanders who like the idea of the inclusion of a mug.

Viva la Hutton Mug!!!

Can't wait to see them hit the store!! (Hope they're smashable)

The Mugs deserves to win for this reply alone :)

There's nothing wrong with a bit silliness in the game .... And judging by the voting I think people agree with me. If the mug wins there is only one direction I'm going .... And that's to Hutton to collect one.

1.) sothis gold creates new lore
2.) i believe there is an established player group based in that system
3.) it takes rares to a new range theres still trading opportunities at about 180LY
4.) its a metal rare those arent to common
5.) explorers can visit there on the way out and in
6.) it creates long range gameplay for those sick of powerplay its in uncontrolled space.

So vote for sothis gold
