The best approach for optimum jump range is to use "D" class modules everywhere but the FSD, where you use the highest class A rated the slot will handle.

Engineer upgrades should focus on "Lightweight" mods, including weapons systems.

I'm currently building one also, but I have a c4 fuel scoop and a c2 fuel tank and just one SCB instead, otherwise I would hate travelling in it even more. What shield booster mod did you do? Heavy duty usually adds a ton of weight.
