Raw Materials as mission rewards..

WE get Encoded, and Manufactured materials as mission rewards.. Why don't we have Raw as well? I would much rather do missions and get them, than have to spend god aweful boring hours surface prospecting...

Fdev, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE when you put something in this game, take just FIVE minutes and ask your self.. 'Will this result in our players having to spend 10+ minutes sitting around and doing /nothing/ for a very random chance at a small reward.

If the answer is YES go back to the drawing board and rework the idea.

Raw materials are the easiest to acquire in the game. Even the very rare ones just require a little SRV surface prospecting or asteroid mining to get them. Easy once a player gets it down. EDDB can tell a player exactly where they are. I'd keep the encoded and manufactured as is so there wouldn't be any less of them. You know...All those missions we lost as the boards were flooded with the new wing cargo delivery missions...

Yep, planetary materials are literally just lying around waiting for you to pick up. You can so many rares that even if you can't find the one you want it's quick and easy to target a planet with heaps of one rare to trade for another, even with the exchange rates.

Very true, the amount of time it would take a mission runner to do a quick mission to get a couple of mats I can pick up several hundred of varying quality. The thing with the other mats is that it takes a long time and a lot of effort and sometimes a specialised ship to get them, whereas anyone can buy an SRV, schlepp down to the nearest volcanic or bio site and pick up a hundred in ten minutes. Getting those other rewards from missions are for people who don't want to do combat or necessarily get involved due to time and skill restraints.

maufactured materials are just laying around in space as well.. just cruse around and drop into USS's to pick up the materials, or go to a CG that has a CZ or bounty hunting in a RES and use limpets to pick up the material.. In the amount of time it would take me to do a mission, I can pick up a few dozen materials as well..

Doesn't mean people want to do it..
I hate landing on a planet
I hate driving an SRV
I hate the amount of time it takes to /find/ materials that I need for things..

Going out and farming the materials are still there, I just want mission rewards to be available for Raw materials as well.. 5 Arsenic for doing X mission..

That's true, just because I enjoy landing and driving around on planets doesn't mean everyone should like it or be forced to do it. There should be mission rewards, although I would suggest just for high grade materials that can then be downgraded using the mat trader to get lower grade materials, there's no real need to have every type of mat available from missions, just a few would do.

agreed

"Why don't we have Raw as well?"

hear hear! agree 110% on this one!

---------------

the decision not-to, is i think beyond options, of guidances, etc, of players in terms of a pretext of diverse gameplay - it is TOO unrealistic , TOO arbitrary a choice, to force upon us, when we do things like trade in the very same materials in the COMMODITIES market, constantly.

something as basic as CONVERTING commodities, INTO materials, if there is enough closeness,.. ex ;

YES - gold in commodies, should be able to become gold in materials,
NO - whereas "advanced catalysts", SHOULD NOT be able to become "chemical-processors".

ssssssssssssooo obvious!

*ape jumping up and down screeching noises*

??????? disallowing / facilitating something as DIRECTLY,.. exactly... the same as -

iron for iron,.. etc
is ludicrous.

BEYOND arbitrary of , what you could gain from, or benefit from... in 'diverse gameplay'.

or put another way,..

diverse gameplay AS AN OPTION,.. is not the same as FORCED,.. diverse,...
