General / Off-Topic RCTWorld General Discussion

I doubt transport rides won't be there for final release, considering that they promised they would come out during EA.

Remember the list?

Time will tell though. Either way, it seems you guys are getting a good kick out of it. It reminds me of why I stayed out of this thread for so long, sometimes I feel you guys go a bit too far. -- But humour is humour. I just find it hard to see the funny side on this one. [yesnod] My mistake on taking this for a serious thread.

I do not know why I care so much.

Possibly because you have put more of your time into trying to make RCTW a success through your community interaction and your time spent there as a volunteer moderator.

Trouble is, I think a lot of us here were burned with RCTW and that has made us a little bitter and cynical. I think we see things as they are now and are certain that is no 'potential' left in RCTW. We have no real ties to RCTW or Atari so I think we're more outspoken when it comes to discussing their antics!

You'd have to avoid a lot of forums if you don't want to read a heavy dose of criticism and mocking of RCTW. It's not as if it's limited and exclusive to this specific forum, RCTW is considered a joke pretty much everywhere at this point.

Honestly though, RCTW's community response is a cake walk compared to how No Man's Sky got obliterated by the interwebz (and still going).

You are correct, it was a joke, a joke that is now getting VERY old. Most thought that Atari would have given up by now... so much for that. I just cannot understand how it is still funny. Surely the joke would have gotten old by now? Does it not get boring after a while?

I just do not see the point. Then again, maybe I am the bitter one here? [haha] Haha! I am not tied to Atari or Nvizzio at all.

Well if I'm honest, I don't join in with a lot of what goes on in this thread, I believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but it honestly upsets me that people are being deliberately mis-sold a product, opinion or not, it is reality. I don't agree with some of the things that Frontier have done but deliberately misleading their customers is not one of them.

By all means if someone enjoys playing RCTW I would not have a problem with that in any way, and it's not in my interest to tell them what I think is right and what is wrong. Planet Coaster shouldn't even come into the equation for me, they are different games, and one does not have to choose sides, it just so happens I was sold on Planet Coaster and not on RCTW because I did research. The problem is, not everyone does research. There are people out there who have been misled by the RCT name; duped into buying something incomplete, but there's nothing they can do about it because Atari are still within the bounds of the law. And you may say that the misinformed buys at their own risk, but it's the fact that Atari are deliberately taking advantage of the misinformed for one reason, and one reason alone. Its not the game, it's not the customers: it's the money.

In the live stream with Steven Lumpkin, it was clear to me that he wants that game to be good, it was a good stream, he was good, the piece by piece system looked pretty good; I felt like I'd seen it before but it looked pretty good.

So just to make things clear, I am not a fan of Atari, nor am I a fan of their shoddy marketing techniques, but I do like to get a good laugh out of them, and this thread can be quite funny sometimes. I will never get involved though when it comes to flaming of individuals.

I should also add that this is by no means a dig at you JMR, I think you are a very respectable person and I've seen the work you have put in for them, and the things you do, and I can see you are trying hard to hold on to a sliver of hope. So don't give that up. [happy]

Gregor, you just need a few posts to enter the Top Ten Club!

Nearly there! [big grin]

It's very odd though that Deuce's profile says he only has 139 posts... Brett? [blah]

I do not know why I care so much.

A lot of us, myself included, used to care. Unfortunately, and as I have said before I refunded and still went back and bought it again,., and I downloaded and played it a bit yesterday again... and sorry but Beta 1 weekend I was a staunch supporter, but 'they' have eroded my care for the company (Atari) and the franchise where I will NEVER buy another Atari packaged game again.. And yes that is MY choice... Unfortunately (perhaps for those that are trying to make a good product but are perhaps hamstrung by management/production demands) that may mean a loss of jobs along with any tarnishing of reputations.

Since when ever did anyone say anything about 'serious' forums anyways! [tongue]

Open the program CommandPrompt, just search for it from the start menu.
Then find the path to the RCTW executable. Should be in Program Files (x86) under Steam directory. If you don't have the game installed it's fine, I can ask someone on RCT forums, as they most certainly play the game.
Copy that path and paste it in the CommandPrompt window. Press enter.

The game will start. In the CommandPrompt window it should print out any warnings the game may have. If it doesn't, we're done here, but if it does print any warnings, play around with the game for a bit and copy what the output may be. Put it on pastebin and put a link here.

It'd also be fun to decompile the game and see if it's a mess of code, so I will definitely not get someone to send me the game's files which I couldn't play anyways because the game is locked to Steam (nor would I want to play it). Even though I couldn't play the game, it's still violates terms and services, so I will not be doing that... Nope, I'm an honest citizen of the law.

Forgot to mention that I tried running it earlier, it just gives the error message "is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file."

I don't know what to say JMR, sorry for poking fun at Atari/Nvizzio/RCTW?

Thank you. I feel much better now.

In all seriousness, no, not at all. I am just confused on why there is a need to continue joking about something which most thought would have ended by now. It seems pointless to me.

Although, I should not even express this here. It seems to be coming across as a bit over dramatic. My apologies. Sleep is a bit chaotic.

I'm one of those people who thinks "If you dislike a game, post a negative review and move on."

You guys are right though. Sorry to be the party pooper! I shouldn't care about people joking about the game.

Fair enough! I only contribute to this thread to vent off a little steam every now and then and to give my admittedly worthless opinion on the state of the game. I can appreciate it can get a little tiring seeing it all of the time hehe. I guess any of my personal criticisms levied at RCTW were born out of frustration from seeing the game and a much beloved franchise go down the path is has done. The reason it's posted here is simply because on the official RCT forums it has often fell on deaf ears somewhat adding to the frustration!

Please don't take anything I post to heart, I'm just an annoying git who loves to type on his keyboard [haha]

Venting through humor and mocking is a way some cope with the loss of a franchise they grew up playing as a child. RCT will always have a place in our hearts so we'll always be talking about it whether good or bad.

Plus beating a dead horse is the Internets middle name. [big grin]

Venting frustrations/poking fun at being misled (& by all accounts actually cheated)/being sad about a great franchise being dragged through the mud...

ALL of this on a competitor's forum? WHO WOULDA THUNK IT?!!

Lol too true, too true.

RCTW is a joke and will continue to be for a long time yet. The way it has been handled and the ridiculous and silly closing of threads drove people away.

The clear signs that some "posters" were allowed to say what they wanted while others were shut down and had their accounts banned hadn't helped matters, nor the silly change to EA at the last moment.

And rather than fix the problems what do we get? More features! That's just great, more new bugs introduced and old problems remaining. Fix the game first, then add content!

Well... you DEFINITELY can't do it on their Forum ;)

Nope certainly can't. And when you do complain they have the cheek to say don't hate, go report the problems on their forum.

Ok, I did that on the first week the game was released. On a dual monitor system the mouse will exit left or right depending where your monitor is.

Current status : Transferred to Internal QA - Confirmed - Date : 04/06/16

Still not fixed :/

This "cleanse" thing should prove interesting.
I do find it a little odd, unprofessional, and maybe a little immature to call it that.

WAIT! Are they really calling it "cleanse"??? (I think I've been there 3 times in the last year.)

Nook, "The cleanse that has been promised is coming."

I am well aware of the toxicity on the Steam forums. schedule has been crazy in the least and once things return to normal after PAX, cleanup and moderation will return to normal.

The cleanse that has been promised is coming.
