General / Off-Topic RCTWorld General Discussion

So it's got a mistake in it - makes me think it's even more likely Atari wrote it themselves!!

That makes sense... (another reason to shake head in complete disappointment)

Honestly, NOBODY caught that error? How very, very sad. Even a pumped up article touting the game's selling features cannot be written without mistakes.

Ah, so this makes sense now. I can just picture it-- a table meeting of Atari employees. One of them is dozing off because there's nothing interesting happening over there, when his boss shouts "Johnson! Has that gaming cyber site finished reviewing the game that we sent to them along with a $30 giftcard to Applebees? We need that article on their interweb page today." Johnson sits up and stammers, "Oh! Fine, it's ready to go, sir!" and then uses the rest of the meeting scribbling out this article on some crinkled up lined paper that he found in his briefcase that is usually just used for candy stolen from babies. He faxes this practically illegible "review" to the website along with the Applebees giftcard. Some poor intern over there then has to, first, figure out what a fax machine is, and then transcribe the article to their website. Clearly, that is the only explanation for how "Adventure" got mistaken for "Advanced."

Epilogue: Johnson received a promotion and $50,000 bonus... in Applebees giftcards.

One massive pothole in this story, Applebees are way too upmarket for the likes of Atari.

Atari fell long time ago, this would be Infograms fall, Atari of old was buried in the New Mexico desert along w/ E.T, PacMan & a few other games & some hardware as well was buried out there.

This thread will always do the same thing, it will and has gone quiet for a few weeks now, it's just waiting for the inevitable Atari failure and it'll become more active again. The quiet for a few weeks and so on and so forth until RCTW gets abandoned.

I would like to add that while 99% of whats said here is because of a failure that Atari makes there is also quite a bit of positive stuff when they do something right. Just doesn't happen very often. Atari are the sole people controlling this thread they dish out updates and talking points we talk about them.

Yes, this thread is really just a reflection of what Atari do with RCTW - good or bad (or as so often, hilarious).

It's also the equivalent combined content of all the stuff removed from/closed down on their own forums. The thing people should remember is that the next proper RCT game was always going to be a big deal - people WANT to talk about it. And there is a limit as to how frank you can be on the Atari forum, but this thread makes it possible for a lot of the same people to share those thoughts, speak brutally honestly about it all without politically motivated 'moderation' getting in the way of debate.

As ever, the next update will either be shockingly good or shockingly bad. Interestingly the last update was initially shockingly good, right up to the point people tried to actually play it and it crashed continuously! (was the crashing hot-fixed in the end? Been working away and lost track..)

The next update is to drop #soon, and this thread will light up like a xMas tree.

I just had a look 'over there' to see about next update and I see Nook said today he didn't know when it would be ready. I thought it was the 4th (tomorrow) though? If he doesn't know by now I'm guessing it probably won't be tomorrow.

It's sad that this thread will likely get a heck of a lot more posts than their own official forum.
