PM-ing on Steam to get a shirt you "won"--great way to run a business...

My response would have been:

"Oh no! Very sorry to hear that, they were dispatched on the 12th - I just checked to be certain. But we will send you another out today, and also... A little extra surprise to say sorry! :)"

But no, they seem to dumb to work out how to spin a problem into a positive experience.

Too* no worries tho. We still love u xo.

IMO responding via Steam is a very good approach. It's modern, efficient and quick.

Oh well done! I'm normally good on grammar!

But the platform he used to respond isn't really relevant. It's the manner of the response that is wrong. If a customer (and more than that, someone who got involved and entered a competition) has been let down, then it should be seen as an opportunity to demonstrate how much they care.

I know it's not Atari's fault that the postal system sometimes fails. But most decent public facing employees would know that the response to anything unfortunate/negative needs to be a) a fix, and, b) a token gesture to spin it back in a positive experience.

The response was just cold, clean - hugely impersonal. Same as on the forums when an individual has reported multiple issues and gets the same canned responses for each of them. Or 'unable to replicate' when it's clear it's a problem that is affecting everyone.

I'm only bothered by this as I know so many RCTW fans have said Atari just need time to make the game good. Well that's fine, but part of having people be patient and decent enough to wait for a game 2 years overdue, is treating them like valuable, wonderful and kind people whilst they wait. And Atari just seem really bad at that side of things.

Also love how nookriot got mad when I mistakenly said that he had not been on steam RCTW forums for months, when it was "only" a month or so. Yet even after all this time he has still not made a single post according to his post history with last post being from August...

Too bad he is responding to no one on the RCTW steam forums, even though the only active community manager quit ages ago.

"...win an Atari T-shirt...'

I think 6 Flags would have been better off supporting Planet Coaster. I wonder if by backing RCTW it hurt 6 Flag's reputation any.
