General / Off-Topic RCTWorld General Discussion

Well that was an absolute travesty.

I've stayed away from both forums for a while, needed to work on a few things. I was quite surprised Atari had listened add wanted to release Early Access. I got pretty excited today, was an hour early waiting for the stream.

What do we get? No disrespect to Nook, I feel for him, he tried, but that was bedroom streamer with a notepad and a few ❤︎❤︎❤︎❤︎❤︎❤︎ product placements.

I don't get it, where are the people who made the product? Where is the excitement? The passion? The knowledge?

The graphics looked so washed out compared the screens we've seen, we're forced into using fixed exist and entrances. The park management is a joke from I can tell it's just fancier graphs with nothing additional from RCTW3.

I even stood up for Atari on stream, before it started, I said that we could see something amazing, damn was I wrong. Wishful thinking that my fave franchise could be saved. Wrong wrong wrong. It's dead.

To think that there are people on their forums defending this patched botched up excuse of a game, it's mind boggling. Everyone is accused of being negative, fine, I accept, I'd rather be negative and put up a fight to save a franchise, than lie back, take a wallet swipe and walk away smiling because of Stockholm Syndrome. That's the best analogy I can think of in this situation.

I'm firmly against the price increase to Alpha test a product, but after tonight's pitiful excuse of a stream and Early Access launch, I'm going to buy Planet Coaster Early Bird next week and uninstall RCTW. Those "Peeps" foam faces are haunting me. My PC feels unclean. Totally done with RCTW because Atari put zero effort in.

Your favorite franchise isn't dead, well, the name is at least, but besides the point. Planet Coaster is basically everything RCT fans have asked for from a game, more than I have asked for, and overall, it's truly a great successor to the previous RCT games.

I cancelled my pre-order for RCTW months back but yeah, seeing that stream today was a bit of a shock to the system. I really felt sorry for the guy presenting it, felt like he'd been stitched up quite frankly. Like you said, that was bedroom streamer material, I'm fairly sure I could have done better and I'm pretty much bereft of personality. The whole game from start to finish has been an absolute joke. If people really think they're going to get a decent game out of Atari they're deluded.

I'm completely sick of crap publishers/developers saying "ah well, it's early access!" It's a complete cop out on Atari's part. I wouldn't mind if they used the excuse while actually having something decent to show off, but no, it all looks pretty awful but you of course cannot criticise because they've got great things planned... I wish that Atari would just disappear now. I've said it before but I hope they could at least sell the RCT franchise off to a publisher that actually gives a hoot.

Meh.

Edit: Also selling off early access copies of the game in stores with proper retail packaging. How low can they get?

When I first heard about planet coaster I thought it was just gonna be a rct knock off but after watching endless video of it on youtube and now after seeing that live stream I can say planet coaster has nothing to worry about.

I'd honestly be absolutely terrified of Planet Coaster if I were Atari. The crazy creative content already coming out of a limited alpha is pretty crazy. Check out what this person made,

Planet Coaster is more of a Rollercoaster tycoon game than RCTW is lolol

At first I was kinda mad they weren't putting in what SHOULD go into a beloved and cherished game. So many of us spent hours and hours playing the three different iterations of RCT (plus all the add-ons AND custom content created by users who LOVE the game). Now I'm just sad--VERY SAD...

But then I fire up the Frontier launcher and load PLANET COASTER and it puts a HUGE SMILE on my face. Cannot wait for more. I really do believe we are in for a great ride (pun intended).

why the ❤︎❤︎❤︎❤︎ is that even a thing. On that config screen he had all options to the max, but then this "realtime optimisation" option overrides all that.
I don't see the point as there are presets for low, medium, high, etc. Why not just turn down the graphics using one of those presets if your computer can't handle it. So if I understand correctly, that option puts your graphic settings on low, even though all settings you see are on max. That's either bad design or Matt is tting again.
also, as someone said earlier: no amount of graphics settings are going to give us realistic looking coaster tracks and supports. I can't believe there are people claiming RCTW is realistic while PC is cartoony. That's just blind fanboyism.

I see they've set release time pretty late - so much for their commitment to allow people to refund upto the 31st if they feel the EA isn't good enough!! Most people will be lucky to have the game downloaded and installed let alone figured out by then...

Maybe it's just a coincidence, always seems a bit shady though...

but no Rides :p DAMN

That's the management side, you have to earn the billions on earth, develop and sell your parks, so you can eventually build your rides on Earth, get it all packed up, strapped to a rocket and eventually get it shipped to Mars. Welcome to Planets Coaster.

Also selling Chief Beef franchise off would be worth a few billion, just make a new one for space, Capt Lamb. Starship Goatshakes.

#ChiefBeefBelief!!

I have just finished watching the RCTW live stream on youtube because I missed it yesterday. Just one word describes it compared to Planet Coaster.

Hilarious!
