Re: Addiction

CMDRs

Thanks for gathering round in a circle for today's addiction group.

I'd like to start by introducing myself, I'm PaxtonNewt and I'm addicted to ED.. I first had a taste of ED about 6 months ago and I spend everyday seeking out my next hit of ED. I've not gotten any withdrawal symptoms yet but as with all addiction I'm sure that demon is on its way

Anyone else like to share their story

My name is Rollo Treadway and I too am an addict.

I am addicted to drifting endlessly from one star to another in the hope of getting a hit. Whole days go by when I do nothing more than press the button again and again hoping that I'll win. But then I'll find the unique sight that I'm looking for and I'll get that rush and it'll keep me going for days. It'll give me enough to survive until the next hit.

I too, am addicted... I have sleepless nights (when not drifting in space)... worrying about what will happen when we inevitably go 'cold turkey' because they've closed the servers down!!!!o_O

I am.
Zieman, addicted to Elite: Dangerous.

E: D somewhat cured my Oolite addiction, so I have that going for myself at least. When E: D servers shut down, I'm sure Oolite's allure will be too much and I'll be sucked deep in the dark side (OXP, nowadays OXZ, making to those who don't know) again.

I've been addicted to Elite since I was about 13. Those nasty men, Braben and Bell, got me hooked young.

Having other interests I didn't get a computer after my ZX for years, which meant I missed out on the PC-based Elite games; however, even in my 20s I would get my ZX, load and play Elite just to get a fix now and again. Then I found Oolite, and was hooked again.

Back Elite: Dangerous via KS. Been playing since day one, it's the only game I am interested in.

Right, I'm off to search for HGEs...

If they used archives of servers now the game would still be incredibly big to play. It would take years of game play to complete it. Even if that was possible to be able to complete elite. If getting rank of elite is completing the game then yeah it would be over quick but getting rank of elite is not the only point to the game. I've only Scratched the surface of the game so for them to say the offline mode would ruin the game I disagree. It would give me comfort just to know that I can fly in space without a mission objective. I would want an assurance that the amazon servers they use will never go offline and fd keep it going and do not ever quit working on an offline mode. My pc was used for many things now it is purely an elite dangerous machine.

Hi. I'm Bigmaec and I'm addicted to flying spaceships.
I was sending rockets to mun and minmus, lithobraking my way to the surface until that one day a friend convinced me to play Elite Dangerous.
I try to restrain myself to playing less then 6 hours a day so I can keep my current job, but it's hard.
The Matrix would be the solution, I hope soon someone will make it so I can play 24h/day via neural network.

Ok, it's not that bad but I pretty much play every day I have time :ROFLMAO:

Hi, I'm CMDR Taimaru and I am proudly addicted to Elite: Dangerous. Over 5.6k hours and it's still my primary game of choice. Now if only I could win the lottery so I didn't have to interrupt my spaceship flying by having to go to work...

I've never been so profoundly affected by a game before. Granted I've liked lots of games and completed many fps games and racing games but I've never encountered anything like elite dangerous before. We could slow the earth's rotation so we could have extra hours in the day just for ED
