Reaching breaking point and getting very dispirited

Okay, the issue is this, I have recently been invited to meet the Engineer at Sirius. No problem

I need 25 x modular terminals - took some time but I know where they are now on a fleet carrier near Damocan. Original fleet carrier according to NRAA has gone!

So I truck up there and it won't let me dock as I don't have the credentials - it will only accept the Squadron and 'Friends' of Diamond Frogs - Aha I saw a clue there, so I worked my butt off for them and became 'Friendly' with them so I assumed this meant that I would be able to dock on their fleet carriers. WRONG!

How the ruddy hell does one progress in this game when there are traps out there to trip you up and puzzles that have NO solution that I can see!

---

I am not getting any younger and am rapidly losing patience with the game. The number of repetitive bugs is increasing and then this!

Any suggestions please feel free to post them here for me. Before I just chuck the whole kit and kaboodle away

Fleet Carriers are player assets.
Getting friendly with an NPC faction does nothing in that regard.

My suggestion is to find and truck those goods the old fashioned way.
Oh, don't forget the Sirius system permit. ;)

Thanks, but it seems the only place you can get Modular Terminals now is from some of the NPC Fleet Carriers. I have used all the various support databases and nothing comes up anywhere else.

They used to be mission rewards. Isn't that the case anymore?

Hey OP! Maybe you need to change gears? Here is a suggestion, perhaps just slow things down a bit, install some quality-of-life modules on your ship like supercruise assist and advanced docking computer, get a planetary vehicle hanger and a discovery system scanner and do some low-key exploring. Here is a great site to make loads of credits while exploring. https://www.spansh.co.uk/riches It may help to go and explore and see the galaxy.

Unless something has changed very drastically and very recently, you can get modular terminals as mission rewards from factions via the mission board. Fleet carriers have no relevance at all here.

It doesn't appear so. Getting 25 as rewards when your ship only holds 32t cargo doesn't sound practical either :)
The amount will fit, I see no problem. :)
But if you really want to buy them, maybe this list is up to date enough (see exports or supplies tab):

Been doing that nicely, but thought I'd try this Engineers malarky and was enjoying it until this scenario.

Think the time has come to part farewell to Elite despite being a founder and investing in it through Kickstarter. It is exacerbating my Lockdown Stress levels way too much of late.

Thanks, that was one of the ones I used, But if you go to the export tab you will see they are all ships, and when you get to the suggested systems, most of the time they aren't even there! Then those that are there you cannot get on board! See my problem? I have been chasing my tail around for several days and it is driving me around the bend and just not worth the ruddy hassle anymore.

There are no NPC Fleet Carriers. These are all owned by player Cmdrs, and they set who can dock. Chances are, if they have module terminals, they might sell them to a newer player, but you will need to contact that player owner to request docking permission.

Edit: As others have mentioned, you cannot buy MT's from markets. They are mission rewards. You'll need to find the right system, in the right state, and will find missions with MT's as rewards.

Note: Fleet carriers listed are only those with known docking access set to "All" and with market prices updated recently. It doesn't guarantee the fleet carrier will be always dockable though, as their owners can change the setting at any time. If you are a fleet carrier owner, please ensure your carrier is up to date and properly assigned to you via 'Import Frontier data' feature (available in your Inara CMDR profile).

I think I got my modular terminals doing passenger missions. Maybe install a few passenger cabins at your favorite starport and do a few transport passenger missions. Not the long distance ones, but the transport missions. Just kind of take your time doing the missions and some will pop up with modular terminals. This game has a lot of aspects about it that just take a lot of time, so it's definitely a time waster and that is kind of a good thing. If you need some help, go to your squadron tab and look up "The Armory" and apply. We are an older crotchety bunch but we can certainly get you going in the right direction. See you out in the black o7

I'm not sure I'm reading this correctly. You are posting that you are quitting the game because requisitioning some modular terminals for an engineer requires an hour of game play?

And you are a founder? If we were playing poker I would push my chips all in at this point and call that bet.

First result from googling "Elite Modular Terminals"

Your issues come from trying to utilize a method beyond what was designed for obtaining Modular Terminals - the idea was that you undertake missions with Modular Terminals as a reward and feed the Engineer with them until you have given them 25 (you can fly around with them in your cargo hold until you have enough but that tends to attract pirates).

The fact that Modular Terminals are only available as a mission reward is not a huge burden. Other engineers require you to feed them with some rare goods which again can require feeding part loads.

Shame to dump a game you must have just come back to because of misunderstanding the mechanics of one thing.

Folks, why doesn't someone just give this poor guy a straight answer to his question?

It sounds like you're trying to discover Marcos Qwent. He is admittedly the most useless engineer but you have to go through him to get to the good stuff.

There are scores of videos which will walk you through them.

Here is the one from Exegious that I used to get to get to Marcos Qwent. It's still a grind but it worked. The video is only 2:04. Although this video is from 2018, the last time I used this was about six months ago and the technique still worked. The key is to run passenger missions to Robigo and select that as a reward. If memory serves, I think I did it in two trips using using either a Type 9 or Type 10 outfitted with plenty of passenger cabins. As I recall, the grind was actually more in outfitting the ships and getting there than anything else. The actually money runs took under 30 minutes if I recall correctly.
