Real advertising

The funny thing they could do is advertising for real life companies like Coke or Taco Bell.

And replace some of the trade items with items linked to these companies for a limited time.

"New new Coke" and "Taco "meat" filling" (imperial slaves) are some of the thing that could be traded...

Add in some real life link... bring 100T of "meat" and receive 10% reduction on your next taco bell purchase (but who would take that offer though, seriously?!)

This in turn would raise the demand for Pepto Bismol at the station because of the "meat" quality.

Because no matter how they are fed, space weevil is not good taco material.

"So evil, it could just pop out for next update..."

Taco bell is being shut down in a couple of years. lol.

The advertising on approach and interiors should reflect the economy and government of the station.

But I'd be happy to see some variety of advertising based around rares for a start.

Plenty of existing content there.

No real advertising in the game. Anyway the big companies which have the finances to pay for the advertising, would not be interested by 1 million of people (perhaps for currently, in ED) and dispersed across the planet (too small markets)

Certainly wouldn't be too keen to see real advertising in game, we get enough of that at every available opportunity in real life.

More random generated in-game advertising by all means, but No, to real life adverts.

No.

I get enough of that crap in RL without logging into a game and having RL corp. splattered over my monitor.

I put a lot of effort into blocking advertising and tracking on my PC and I wouldn't support/allow any game to by-pass that; some things are simply not on.

+1 for finding the one thing I can think of that would genuinely stop me playing.

How about an ad outside the stations for the fuel-rats?

I would love to see more variety in ingame ads (no rl ones). These ads at the station entrance are completely useless, because they are always the same. There should be ships with big company logos, stations sometimes plastered with advertisement, depending on what you can buy there etc... it would make stations much more alive and interesting, so that they don't all look the same and boring.

Certain companies totally would pay for this audience. E.g. imagine HOTAS manufacturers, gaming pc manufacturers - they'd both probably be quite keen. I work for a "major search engine" that does ads - you'd be surprised at how small the audiences of interest go - if you can slice and dice by geography (easy for FD to do), and perhaps gender & age (harder for FD to do) then they are on to something; other things like "playing with a laptop" or "playing with a gamepad" or "plays mostly during the day" or "plays mostly at weekends" etc is all super valuable signals to advertisers. Cohorts of just a couple of thousand are valuable to advertisers so long as they can target them appropriately. The targeting and tracking will be tough to pull off though as linking in-game to in-browser will be a challenge.

Not sure there is enough "real estate" in game though for it to be worth it. The billboards around stations are a) tiny and b) you only see them when you are going into a station, and even then you are 99% likely using the docking computer and have wandered off to get a cup of tea or go to the loo or something so wont see them anyway.

They would be better off putting advertising space on the loading screens or the launcher IMO.

Oh and obviously, I would be happy to see ads to keep the game running after sales of the game/DLC slow down.

For heavens sake, no real life ads, we have enough of that all around us already.
But why not include ads for different in-game local factions, military and politicians? For example:
"Join the Federal Navy, make a difference"
"Support your local Police"
"Your Princess needs you"
"Vote for party "X""
"Resist the aggressors, sign up for duty now"
"High traffic area"
and similar...
