I'm pretty sure it was to give humanity weapons to fight the thargoids with.

We know the guardians digitized their consciousness. Give em a robot body, upload their minds, u get a "resurrected" guardian. Imagine humanity and guardians working together to repel the thargoids.

How do you know this? It is never mentioned in any lore that I have read that the Guardians could transfer conciousness away from their brains. Its all well and good if this is just speculation but such feats have never been mentioned.
