Really?

What is annoying is when they run... just spent 10 minutes with an Elite FDL and the ran away...!
Hate it when I've wasted lots of time beating an enemy ship down only for her m to run for it just as I'm counting up the bounty cr.. Frustrating is the word...

Change is hard. Frontier tried, but the AI is going back to being potato again, because this is what folks seem to want. No mods, less elite/ dangerous (to the point that I only see them if there's a mission update adding named AI, that are hunting me to any missions I fly) which also means less materials of value.

By next week we'll be back to 2.0. Rejoice. :|

Don't be silly, the rewind wasn't limiting the AI improved programming, it was a much needed removal of the modded weapons from the NPCs while FD tried to fix tyhe bug theat gave them plasma accelerators that had the fire rate of multi cannons... the bugged weapon fits totally masked the improvements to the AI - although it would appear that some of the NPCs are still carrying bugged wepaons that can instantly kill any player. Once they've sorted the weapons bug out they'll reinstate NPC mods AND have some idea of how ewffective the new NPC AI is - a change that the weapons bug completely masked.

Given fixed weapons, data on the effectiveness of NPCs, and a subsequent rebalance FD should be able to do a better job (ie the job they intended to do in 2.1, but borked) of providing more challenging NPC opposition WITHOUT giving them the ability to instantly destroy any ship in the game - or do you think it's a good idea that you can have tens of millions worth of Corvette or Cutter destroyed in 3 seconds by an NPC Adder?

That is not what people want! They want a balance. Which FD Cannot seem to get. They, including me and probably you; don't want to be vaporized in 10 seconds by an elite NPC with super weapons. On the other hand they want a challenge. In most games what you are faced with is an enemy that is a challenge to what your current level is. As this is not other games I know. There still needs to be a balance so traders in a type 9 don't keep loosing their ship in a few seconds on every other trade run. FD doesn't seem to get that. It is one way or the other...extemes. Hell I still get jumped by elite ships that just appear out of nowhere. On my way to a Station and almost there and bam a ship is interdicting me. Really tired of that crap. Because they never show up on scanner they just appear. Just another basic game mechanic FD still hasn't fixed. Anyway things like that have to be balanced. I could care less about overall ship balance because there should always be a better more powerful ship. That should be the goal get more money get bigger better more powerful. But you can't get interdicted by a baddass npc every other jump you make or three times in one system on your way to dock. It is just way too unrealistic. Especially in a secured system with police running around it's just ridiculous. How many bad guys you really think there are? In fact in a busy system with a lot of stations and police patrols interdictions should be rare. So trading should be relatively safe. And newcomers to ED should also be. And those who do not have that much time to play but would like to choose how they play and the type of combat they want to do during the hour or two they get.
