Ships Rear Admiral's lounge

Well this evening I took out the Corvette to a Nav Beacon for some very gentle combat (I'm very out of practice!). I like the feel of it already - it is far more pleasant to manoeuvre than a Conda. It feels like a big fighter. Engineering it will make it into a super-killing machine. Sorry Annie - you've long haul duties for good, it seems.

...EDIT and today, I overcharged the 4G multicannons to the max, as well as whacking enhanced burst and beam on. Well, it is really murderous now! It's just a killing machine and I haven't even modded shields hull powerplant etc. yet. It's great!

i usually fly in a wing with friends and decided to trade some punch for support role, so this is my weapon fitting:

2 class 4 gimballed autocannon, efficient lvl 5 and incendiary
1 class 3 turretted cannon, long range lvl 1 and high yeld
2 class 2 turretted beam, lightweight lvl 1 and regeneration sequence
2 class 1 turretted beam, lightweight lvl 1 and regeneration sequence

works fine, doesn't use a lot of MW and the distributor isn't stressed very much

2x Huge MCs overcharged 5 (one with corrosive, one with incendiary)
1x Large MC overcharged 5 (incendiary)
2x (Medium) Packhounds Rapidfire (one with thermal cascade (leftover effect really, one with drag) - thinking about changing out for canons for module sniping)
2x Small Beam turrets with long range (no effect - was hoping beta would bring grade 5 laser mods)

I change it out to the 2 huge MCs and 5 packhounds (drag and 4x thermal cascade) for CMDR pirating

I might move the packhounds to a DBS (and some fixed beams) or some other small ship for dogfighting or times when I want to undermine/combat for PP merits and want a change from the Corvette

Well I thought I've spent so long building this I may as well show it off!

It's slower than some and only jumps 16 Ly but I've never had the shields go down - apart from hitting silent running :-/ fortunately it's hardened too so can take a beating shields down.

my build 'Gac' is here:

Lvl 5 Overcharged Power Plant kicking a mighty 52 MW of PoWer (even if the plant goers down thrusters, FSD and weapons still work ... *if no explosion occurs...)
Lvl 5 Dirty Drives
Lvl 5 Charge Enhanced Distributor
Lvl 5 FSD @ 47%
Lvl 5 Reinforced Prismatic Shields holding 3000 Mj with 2 heavy duty 2 resistance boosters (lvl 5)

Lvl 5 Military grade composites giving just shy of 3000 armour with 2 5D Lvl 5 HRP's.
All Gimbals LVL 5 Overcharged Multi's with incendiary - except 1 medium with Corrosive and 2 small long range cannon turrets with dispersal (chaff effect).

If something's flying head on you can get all the weps firing no problem at all with the dirty drives, FA off boost turn I only seem to have trouble tracking Vipers. I fly 2,2,2 normally which is basically constant fire from the charge enhanced distributor, If things get tricky I go 4,0,2 or 4,1,1 and can pop the shield cell banks as needed. All weapons are on one firegroup - the trigger fire with a dedicated heat sink button on the secondary fire on my HOTAS. Shield cells fired via voice attack.

It's a blast! Any comments welcome.

Hi guys, looking to revamp my all multicannon loadout in 2.2; what do you think about running 2 huge multicannons and the rest pulse? Tempted by gimbaled pulse huge and small, and turreted mediums; all rapid fire grade 5. Worth buying special effects? Thought is lasers only for most ships and the multis just for the big boys. Save ammo!

Sounds good.... just can't stand the added Jitter, makes module snipping near impossible. I would recommend looking at the "Focused lasers " better range, armour piercing, power efficiency and.....accuracy!!

Seen quite a few posts saying the jitter is very manageable with gimbals with grade5 rapidfire, a great point for the turrets though! My biggest internal conflict though is between medium or small turrets. I like that the medium will hit a lot harder, but worried that giving up more dps this way (ie gimbaled medium and large, small turrets vs gimbaled small and large, medium turrets)

[hotas] It's pretty awesome, even for hauling cargo if you can stand the Python-like jump range. She will haul cargo like a T9 (only about 20T less) flies better (and looks better) than an Anaconda. I love my Anaconda but it is a large yacht and looking around the bridge of the Core Dynamics product really shows up the much poorer build-quality of the "pride of the Faulcon-Delacy shipyards". I would wish for one more hard-point underneath for another mine-layer and of course, Black Friday paint.

Or Chrome. Yeah, chrome . . .

Corvette can actually get higher cargo capacity than the Type-9, while still having a longer jump range, and of course not being at risk of getting killed quickly

While the Corvette has lower laden range in this configuration, if both were carrying the same amount of cargo the Corvette would achieve higher range because of its lower hull mass.
That along with the harder hull, stronger shields, more maneuverability, and higher speeds and acceleration of the corvette means that with the exception of the Type-9 having a class 8 slot and arguably better slots for mining (not including aesthetics), the Corvette outclasses it in every conceivable way outside of cost.

got back from a years break so lots of things that i can work on
got a vette, she is a beast but man does it need upgrades otherwise your a sitting duck

3500mj shield so far
7xbooster
currently running pulse lasers but i cant wait to switch out to multi with incendiary - ive opened tod, just need to get out there

love the meaty v12 sound the vette makes, FSD isnt too bad when upgraded to 20lys

off to join aslion to get prismatic shield
and then its conda to get 5000lys for palin

Glad to finally qualify to this club ;) got my promotion letter yesterday evening. I am now looking forward to purchasing my first Corvette, funds already saved up, with 1.1 billion CR saved up i'm going for a full build with no cutting corners. I am so extremely excited :)

Welcome to the lounge CMDR.

The Corvette is far and away the best combat ship in the game. I've recently returned to it after some time exploring and have just modified it to G5 dirty drives, overcharged PP, charge enhanced PD and reinforced shields. I stuck a fighter hangar in it and holy cow this thing is devastating.

I haven't even modded any weapons yet. Still trying to figure out what road I want to go down. My old pre 2.1 loadout of 2x huge PA, 2x medium turreted beams and the rest burst lasers doesn't feel optimal to me anymore. Huge pulses? MCs? beams? or stick with the PAs and mod them as short range blasters. That would be some serious alpha damage.

Why do people put all shield boosters on it? You are easy target for pvp and in pve it nice to have one heat sink for scb.

No real need to use SCBs with a Corvette, not worth it. Your shields should easily last the duration of any fight, rather have 6x shield boosters with a couple of point defence and use the extra internal slots to add hull reinforcements.

That way you're covered for PVE (no npc is gonna get through 4500+Mj maxed out shields). And point defence will prevent PVP Cmdrs using reverberating cascade torpedos to drop your shields instantly (although make sure to fit mirrored armour to negate thermal attacks). They'll have to chip away at your shields the old fashioned way, by which time you should have killed them anyway, or if it's a maxed out cutter, you should have time to run away ;)

The only scenario I could see you needing SCBs is if you're rank grinding in a combat zone and want to stay as long as possible, but that's an edge case.

[money] 600 million + [cry].

Anyone tried Cannons since the buff?
I don't have the mats for the g5 OC MCs (damn you MEF [mad]) and wondering if, with the buff; cannons are viable for taking out big targets again? Mainly do BH and the occasional CZ in wing

Instead of G5 oc multi cannons try the rapid fire mod ..... the mats are easier to find ;)
