Rear view option - look behind ship button

In the classic Elite we had a view for each: front, back, left, right. And we were able to fit lasers on each side. :)

The Devs gave us the debug camera after a full year of howling on the forums. Seems that's as far as they are willing to go.

I don't think they totally ruled it out, but the benefit was seen as negligible for the effort. Also, low priority on the very long list of other features to deliver. Maybe in Season 6 or 7 this type of refinement will start to be revisited.

I was actually taken aback, at first, when I first launched Elite: Dangerous and discovered that there was no rear angle view. Maybe multicrew will give us the option of a tailgunner?

Tailgunner. Another great video game that I used to play in the arcade back in the day. Released in 1979 it had a 3D first-person view thanks to vector graphics. Unlike Elite you didn't actually pilot your spaceship though. All you did was aim your guns at the enemy spacecraft and shoot.

Hi :)
.
Yup, I agree [up], I was only thinking of this the other day. I get the odd npc ship shunting me from behind when exiting stations...so in this respect a rear view 'Mirror/screen' with a limited field of view would be handy, prior to take off, and a plus in combat obviously.

Jack :)
