Reasons why no XBOX on PC/Mac Servers

I am concerned by the twitchy wrist-wrecking movement of the right hand in the vid at 15:10.
Must be quite hard to control where you're pointing the ship's nose wiht a thumb stick. Looks like every movement is a full-range push on the stick.

So you're telling me that you mastered ED in less than a few hours? Yeah right.

Yes, I think so. What is there to master, really. Play for a good long day and you will have seen everything there is to see in in ED.
The only thing that requires some time and training would be flying with FAOFF, but that doesn't count into the 'learning curve' of this game, or combat in general.

No it's not, still analoge range from 0 - 100.

That was painful to watch, but be fair guys, i'm sure our first 20 minutes with the game was just as equally painful, aside from having previous experience with space games and flight sims.

I'd have to agree. The flight model in the game, as much as I enjoy it, isn't exactly 'sim level.'

I think what makes the game frustrating for new players, or makes some say there is a 'steep learning curve' is the lack of information in game. Once you get a grip on the basic flight mechanics and want to know more about the finer details you have to dig through these forums. Like how much a certain class SCB recharges your shield, specific damage or energy efficiency of weapons, that invisible half of optimal mass number where your thrusters hit maximum performance etc.

I don't know guys, I actually like being lost at first, experiencing the "new discovery" feeling of the game.

Sort of like .... "I wonder what does this button doooo?"

Which is not unlike what we see here.

Ofc, you should read the messages the game gives you though... :D But I don't like reading the manual at first either. Kills off the discover it for yourself part.

Heh, one run through of the training missions, some intelligent and careful keymapping and I was off without a hitch. It wasn't until I went to a Cobra that I really lost my touch. All that extra power, vrooom!

I also chalk it up to many hours in the TIE Fighter combat simulator and every other space game. It lends to the innate ability to understand or feel your movement in zero-g space. It can be a frustratingly difficult thing to get accustomed to as most games involve the concept of a dominant gravity source (Earth) which helps to orient the player.

This reaction to the game, however, has nothing to do with console players or being stuck with a controller. It is common, and there are plenty of YouTube videos showing PC players angrily questioning their abilities as a human being when starting the game.

I mastered the main game in minutes ... but I had spent 14 years playing the X series. I was in the Alpha for Elite Dangerous. I started in space outside Eranin station and I docked perfectly first time. I had trading worked out straight away, so much so I was telling other people how to do it, and this was before we had sites to look at for trading. I'm in Kerrashs's early stream videos talking about trading if you want proof of that.

And I still had trouble doing the training missions, and in fact, I have yet to get past the one where you kill the Cobra with a wing mate.
So stop hating on the Blueskullgamer. If you've not played a space sim before, yes the learning curve is steep, and I think he was doing well.

He isn't reacting any differently from the average PC gamer based on the repetitive cringeworthy threads and comments I find on this forum. That said, I'd rather be stuck with this guy than the "PC master race" OP.

While it may be in jest, it is a bit mean to poke fun at the guy behind his back. At least comment on YouTube where he has a chance to defend himself. Not that he's doing anything wrong. Har har har, look at the newbie.

This is priceless market research that Frontier could use to make the game better for beginners.

eh not all beginners are like that , only problem i had when starting out was the actual key layouts they used for mouse and keyboard , some one suggested one that works better for me and i was out into the stars in no time , and my first death was intentional lol i tried to fly into a sun in the name of science

edit: and even though my dream of crashing into a sun was dashed , i still wanted to see the ship blow up for the first time :p
