Reasons why we should get the African Leopard

Althought I would love a tropical leopard from big cats also I more favouried leopards from big cats bc they elusive nature, climbing ability and adaptibility and also for some zoo persian leopards who i met. But I could agree that viverridae are more underepresented in game from carnivores we only have binturong. So african civet or a genet would be above the leopard for mee also true for solitary mongooses like the marsh mongoose or the common kusimanse.

Honestly, I agree we need the African leopard. As I said, when the arid animal pack came out, the Lion King is almost complete; we're missing the African leopard and marabou stork for the circle of life sequence (look again at the sequence if you don't believe me) and the red-billed hornbill as a missing bird species for a significant character, but apart from completing a Disney movie it's needed to complete the original African big five (can't replace using the amur as it's a forest leopard, not a savanna grassland species), and gives us a better representation for Panthera pardus as it's not an endangered species of leopard (using the Amur makes me sad) as within the subspecies of leopards the African leopard is the only one not listed as endangered or worse.

Yeah but is completing the African big five more important than getting other African species that are both more interesting and unique to what we already have like the Serval or Honey Badger and is it more important than completing other groups of animals that aren’t as well represented as cats like primates and birds? It’s a cool cat for what it is, but there’s no way we need it.

We need nothing from disney, other than it to disappear, and this big 5 thing is driving me crazy, giraffe or hippo should be in it anyway, not some weak leopard

I agree with the honey badger being 100% unique, but the serval isn’t a great add in the last pack as well, it is close to caracals, but still I agree it is more needed than the african leotard

Look, I only mentioned The Lion King and Disney because that is one of the only films I can think of that includes the African leopard, but I'm afraid that if we continue to reason, we won't get anywhere. However, I'm afraid I have to disagree that the African leopard shouldn't be in the African Big 5 and that it is weak. African Big 5 denotes the creatures that 19th-century hunters decided together, the five big game animals in Africa that were most difficult to hunt on foot. Hippos and giraffes are excluded as hippos lie in rivers and are too easy to shoot, and while giraffes can be dangerous, they aren't known to be aggressive, especially when cornered. To counter your other point, in its niche on the African savanna, the leopard is unique as it's the only predator that can actively climb trees and even haul prey up to 3 times its size into trees. Unlike cheetahs and lions, it won't run out of stamina when chasing prey and, compared to these two, have a hunting success rate of roughly 40-50%, but if, after all this, both of you still don't agree, then that's okay.

Generally the forum is against "low effort clones" which African leopards fall under as do animals like American flamingo, more generic African ungulates like gazelles etc. With the news of support possibly ending this year, people who don't like clones are ramping up their efforts to ensure everyone prefers unique animals instead.

Lol, then those hunters were foolish people.

What animal kills lions, hyenas, wild dogs, and leotards for sport.

Is more aggressive than honey badgers, hippos and bull buffalo’s.

Even rhinos don’t like fighting with it..

Why is the lion-killer aka Sable Antelope not with the big 5? More aggressive and dangerous then the big five together, not to mention more beautiful as well

Lions don’t hunt the males because they are too dangerous and often get themselves killed when trying to hunt/surprise them, because their horns are perfect for back-defense.

Talking about the big five of low-effort clones.

  • Eurasian Brown Bear
  • Asiatic Lion
- Masai Giraffe
  • African Leopard
  • Any other tiger

Honerable mention, another Zebra or wolf

I do like some clones as I think they add more variety to the roster (Masai giraffe, American flamingo, asiatic lion etc.) but with the potential last pack coming in spring I’m not really into giving a spot up for one of these instead of something visually new.
Yeah, I’m starting to come around to it as well. Like if I can assume the final dlc has more than just two birds, and we get one to two very unique species, then yeah give me a couple “clones” to balance the roster. If the final dlc is gonna be only 8 animals and scenery, we probably should get more unique stuff.

At this point, the animals that are added in are the ones added in. Everyone has a favorite animal so it’s not likely everyone can win. It also doesn’t help Frontier has a bias (for whatever reason) , and while some people benefited from it others (me as one example) got burned out by it.

While I don’t necessarily like someone calling someone else’s favorite animal/ most wanted a “clone” and not deserving to be in game. As an American Flamingo fan I also kind of get it for better or worse. It would be better to get more unique animals to booster the final roster.

Also the American Flamingo won’t suffer from the fact modded animals sound like the original. So it might be one of the few modded animals I get outside exhibit animals.

If frontier chooses to use SUPER clones in their expansions is just laziness and easy money, just some 3 minutes of copy-paste work and voila your American Flamingo or 3rd brown bear.
