Recreate Playstation Controls on PC

Hey guys, I got a question. So I started playing Elite in 2017 on Playstation 4 with the default PS4 controls.

I'm able to connect my Controller to the game but after doing that the game shifts to hybrid control where I can do basic stuff with my controller like accelerate or control the ship but I cant access the context menu as shown on the 4 buttons on the picture.

Can somebody support me here? All I want is to play Elite on PC the exact same way as I do on my Playstation 4 :)

Thank you
Regards,

Do you know where to find the control bindings in the PC version? (not sure if its different in the PS4 version or not)

Yes, I know but I couldnt find an option turn on (or off) the specific context menus for the button
Look for the controls that are bound to "Q" and "E", these are the keyboard commands to select different tabs in the panel you are in.

Thanks for waiting. I think we are wrong in here. The control settings that you recommed are to control the ship itself. The setting in particular that I try to recreate are on X, Square, Triangle and circle when you hold those buttons (check image of my first post). You have an idea where I can find that option?

I'm not sitting in front if the game atm, rather in my truck in a paking lot waiting for others.

And I'm not familiar at all with PS4 or controllers. I play with a joystick and keyboard.

I'm trying to help you as best as I can since no one else is offering.

Are you playing Horizons or Odyssey on PC?

:)
I'm playing Horizons and only referring to the spaceship controls that you can see on the picture. I couldnt find anything in the Internet on this topic

If I understand correctly.... ED doesnt recognize any difference between press and hold on PC. You should be able to do this though with some 3rd party software and bind a keyboard key to a hold function in the software for your controller.

I'm not sure if it doesn't recognize the difference or if this function just don't exist in the PC version of ED. The support wasn't answer me that question as well so I thought maybe I'm just too dumb to find the option because the same controller works fine with my ED on PS4.

Ya, I am on PC, not sure about console, but maybe they dont exist on PC? I am not sure what HUD context or Target context menus would be other than two of the screens in the left Nav panel, that afaik there isn't a hotkey option for opening the panel to that specific page. Ship context I am guessing would be in the right panel, also a page inside it.

That what you mean?

Yes. By using those hotkeys I can access those panels that you named, open the galaxy map whatsoever. So to explain them buttoms easilly every one of the 4 buttoms got 4 more options for example triangle let me go into super cruise, open the maps so on and so on.

OK, so this is what you are talking about, yes? This is how I access the panels when I play.

In Horizons there is no option to set these binds to execute on "hold" like the PS4 apparently does, based on the picture in the OP.

There is also this...which I've never used...on purpose anyway...press and hold LEFT SHIFT to enter this mode...see first item "UI FOCUS" in first picture above...

But again there is no way to set it to execute on "hold"...

There may* be other modifiers to this behavior that I'm not aware of, but this is the best I got.

* may = I suppose its possible but I don't have any reason to believe that it is and I don't intend to give false hope where there is none.

Oh, it now occurs to me that it may be possible that you could bind another button on your controller to "UI FOCUS" (which is press and hold) and then use those 4 buttons once UI FOCUS mode is active.

You have to set every controll Manualy your self... start with controller with yaw as default then duplicate every single remap from PS4...
This will remove them from Keyboard map...
It will take some time...

There will not be any visual display when face button is held...

Edit There will be no PS trade mark logos they will be Microsoft functions only...

(as in the future you may be glad you did)

Has anyone got a saved method for this they could share please? Preparing returning to PC from PS4 and it feels so, so alien, help would be very much appreciated.

Wonder if they'll bake in the control method from PS4 / Xbox into PC ED with a patch around the Transfers kick off, hope so.
