Recruit to Admiral in a few hours... XD

I was Vice admiral and decided to finish my Fed rank. So I did a bit of research and headed to the the "place to be" for Fed ranking, charity mission spam. To my surprise even though only being 30% of the way to Admiral (which took several weeks), 45mins later I was Admiral. And the last ranks take the longest! Yet it took me less time, than it originally took to get Cadet. Doing some rough math, I believe someone could quite easily go from Recruit to Admiral in just a few hours.. maybe 4-5 at most.

Do you guys/galls believe this is intended? Not only going from lowest to highest rank in one afternoon, but to do it in such a pathetic manner? I'm not sure this is a bug either, as it wasnt very hard to find the info. And this has been talked about since the middle of last year. So either FD is completely clueless and doesnt follow these forums as closely as they should and simply arent aware (and its a bug). Or the only thing left, is that its by design? To sit in a station, without doing a single thing except flip through menu's to achieve maximum rank. And do it quicker than any other activity by a long shot. This is how you "EARN" rank in Elite now? I have to say, whether its due to their ignorance or if its by design, both scenario's are quite sad.

Ok time for all the crybabies to come out and tell me how im trying to ruining the game for them XD To you I say, dont worry... its pretty tough to ruin crap, and thats what charity mission ranking is. And to all those poor soals that are just squirrels trying to get a nut (you want fed rank) head to "17 Draconis" now!! Dont even reply and tell me how im rubbish, just go over there, you can thank me later, in a few hours you can be Admiral too.

So, you're saying that it's possible to buy a naval rank in the Federal (Corporate) Navy? I'm SHOCKED, shocked, I tell you.:D

Seriously, thanks for the info. I won't be going to 17 Draconis. May regret that later. Interesting rank gain mechanic.

Recruit to Admiral in a few hours, I don't believe it's possible.

Might take a few tries of logging out completely, but you will get a cycle of 6-7 charity missions on the same BB, then refresh and you will get 3-4 more, refresh again its back to the same 6-7.. rinse and repeat.

Doesnt take very long when you are averaging 5-6 charity missions every minute. Thats about 300+ mission an hour.

I've been aware of this since roughly a week after I started playing. However I've never done it because amzingly enough, nobody has ever burst into my house whilst I was playing the game, held a gun to my head and forced me to fly to Draconis to spam charity missions. As such, it doesn't affect my gameplay one iota.

You havent done it because you like to take the hard road. Youre a boss like that. Also make sure next time you see money on the ground you walk right past it like a boss too. Or if the bank tries to give you free money. Tell them no, a boss likes to work harder, not smarter.

Hehe I knew it was coming and its always the same response. Every time someone raises a possible bug/balance issue some genius comes in and says "nobody is holding a gun to your head, you dont like it, dont do it". Which I suppose if you only care about yourself and not the well being of the game, makes sense. Otherwise its just a silly statement. There is a hole in the roof and the water comes in when it rains. "Well... dont stand there when it rains".

Wow, so you found the secret that no one was telling!

Oh, no, wait, you just found something that's been all over these forums for what, a year now? Hey, welcome to the game!

There are plenty of players who ranked up to Elite combat by parking their ships next to capital ships in a CZ, neutron farmed to Elite explorer and ranked up to Elite trading by smuggling out of Sothis. So it makes sense that they also rank to Admiral and King by donation spamming in a couple of days.
But I imagine that they are pretty bored with the game now.

To be fair, it's much harder to rank up to King via Charity, the Empire isn't big on charity, takes longer to stack those fewer charity missions ;)

Yes. I think we need a change for the ranking system to balance it better.....especially for those people who do power play in Open. They are at a real disadvantage trying to rank up with the Empire.;)

(Sorry, cheap shot, but I just couldn't help it.)

Strange post. If I find a tenner on the floor I pick it up. When I play a computer game though, I don't do so to race through to the end of everything as fast as possible, it's nothing to do with 'taking the hard road' because I would actually find the immense tedium of sitting there spamming charity missions far less enjoyable than just playing the game and gaining rank as I go along.

If you think it's a bug, there is a bug reporting forum. This is not it, this is Dangerous Discussion. Clue is in the title.

By the way, speaking of classic forum tropes you do realise that if this is in fact some kind of bug you're that guy who abuses an aspect of the game and then tries to get it nerfed/fixed right after you benefited from it, yeah?

Right sorry, you were saying something about selfishness I believe?

The last time I found a twenty on the floor, i handed it back to the guy whose pocket it fell out of. He seemed genuinley surprised, as if I would take something that wasn't mine in favour of handing it back to its rightful owner. It's a weird world that we live in.

You can't rank up to admiral in a few hours. Even moving through the menus as quickly as you can with everything hotkeyed, it will take you at least a few nights. I hit rear admiral after maybe 8-10 hours of soul crushing boredom, not counting preparation via securing food, medicine and ancient artefacts.

Im not trying to expose some "big secret" its rather a "why is it like this" post. Ive been aware of charity spamming for ages. Just never actually done it and never been to this location. I was a bit surprised just how quick the progress was and how boring and pointless it seemed. Surely FD can do better than flipping between screens without ever having to leave the station. Shouldnt you have to "earn" rank in some way? And this is for the "hardest" rank.. less than 1hr!! Seems very off compared to similar games. Especially in FD this seems off, I mean it takes forever to do anything, I think it took me more than an hour just to do a simple delivery the other day.

You dont think ranking this quickly and through this process is way off?? I do... Or maybe you dont care, which would actually make more sense, as your reply completely ignored the topic and was only intended as an insult to my intelligence.

I did it for an entire hour.. lol Does take more than 5 mins to figure out how fast it will go. Also I was almost Admiral already. And have hit King with out a single charity spam. So your argument that I "benefited" and now am trying to get it nerfed hardly holds true.

And youre trying to tell me a general discussion post like this, should be in the bug forum? You like wasting supports time huh? Basically everything you said, is just like your first reply to me.. useless. I think I'm done talking to you.. Have a good one troll.

"Play it your way"

Might be viewed as an exploit, but doesn't really impact other players.

Likely a low priority issue for FD.
