Refund/Immediate No Recommendation

Copying from my post on the Steam Boards here:

After watching countless hours of videos from the official announcement on, I, along with my wife, were extremely hyped for this game's release. However, upon the embargo lifting and learning about all that is missing from Planet Coaster 1, this game is an immediate no buy/refund.

Thanks to Rudi Rennkamel's video on YouTube (
Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sg2CwowVEPw
), I will not be buying this game until Frontier can confirm that these features/additions will be making their way into PC2. Listed in order of utmost importance:

#1 - Custom audio and video utilizing speakers, ride audio, billboards, etc.
I cannot stress enough how important this feature was to me and the community in PC1. Making great improvements for Dark Rides in PC2 is fantastic, but then you stripped away the greatest thing from the first game that made Dark Rides possible in the first place. Any main feature that existed in the first Planet Coaster must exist in this sequel for us to accomplish what many of us were already hard at work creating in advance of the launch of this game.
Coming in a future update!!

#2 - Guest limit
Explain to us why this exists in the first place. If the design for this game is catering solely to console players, than you are making a dead game at launch. The player base on Steam alone dwarfs that of the console players in their entirety. Why water down the PC version of the game for this aspect? The game that prides itself on no limitations is doing a great job of limiting what we, the creators, can do/imagine in PC2.
Will be closely watched on PC after launch - may make adjustments in the future.

#3 - Water Rides
Physics. These seemed to be very important to Frontier going back to the RCT3 days. But sadly, it seems those days are over. What Flume ride has a flat bottom to the tubes? Why do riders/rafts not oscillate down the tubes as they would in real life? The body slides seem to be a little better, but everything with regards to the raft riding rides seem animated only at best.

The laundry list from here on out gets very long. So in short, here's a list of some of the things lacking/missing upon launch that are very befuddling:

-Missing animatronics (Human, etc.)
-No improvement to physics
-Special tracks (switch tracks, drop tracks) not available on 99% of the other rollercoasters
-No hotels/restaurants despite being in PC1
-No multiple stations and/or onload/offload for any rides
-Missing original and dlc items from PC1 and missing several items from Planet Zoo
-No Glass pieces (good luck making indoor areas/parks)
-No bigger maps
-Preorder bonuses are a joke and should be included in the base game (money grab)
-Blueprint limit? Needs to be higher than 4000
-No direct communication from Devs on concerns
-No Steam Workshop? No custom creations from outside of the game like in PC1?

Like so many people, I have spent more time creating in this game than I have played any other game ever. While new additions and improvements have certainly been made, my level of creation is now unreasonably restricted comparatively to the first game. In short, I am getting a refund for my preorder and I will not be recommending this game to anyone else until all of these blatant issues have been addressed/resolved.

I didnt finish the video yet but what? No Edge scrolling?

That can't be right... That's game breaking. Thats like Cities Skylines 2 which didn't have a CTRL+Z feature.

Does Planet Coaster 2 at least have CTRL+Z?

And yeah the rest, like glass pieces what why isn't that in?

I fully agree with everything you said - while the new features sound great, there is a lot of stuff missing that was even PC 1.0 at launch.

And not mention the many bugs are people reporting (but might be fixed quickly):
  • people walking through everything (even barriers to block them don't work)
  • closed pools on slides are constantly reopening.
  • power systems are stopping to work for no reason
Etc.

And just realized something new:
We're tower rides like drop towers always at one size? I am not sure now if remember this from RCT3, but couldn't you build them to the height you wanted it?

For it feels like an early access again... For the third title (or if you count the Jurassic world games, even the fifth) it should be ironed out, and not so much stuff should be taken away from you.

No edge scrolling, no glass???? Shift and multiselect shouldn't work either...

Frontier whats going on????

And why don't you communicate with us???? That used to be your strength🤩💪

And there are still more basics missing: ATM, rocktopus, little venetian carousel (these two rides are MUST HAVES from the start), break dancer, condor, flying shark, railway crossings (technically not possible after 8 years??), mulch for flower beds (only available in the flowerpots), flowerpots for windows, pots with plants, benches with backrests, lamps with two lights for the middle of the path, a second sun lounger as an alternative would also have been nice etc.

I have a high end PC, so I don't want to be restricted with 6.000 guests because of console gamers😭. We, the PC community, are your loyal fanbase and not the 15-20% on console!!!

And above all, why do you leave out so many things that are already available in Planco and Planet Zoo?!

I also want to know how toolkit objects come into the game, what about backstage props, lockers, cars for parking lots??? It is details like these that make the parks realistic. A big mistake without the steam workshop, where there were 500.000 objects. Who would use the confusing console workshop? You can't search, filter or sort properly. Too few objects are displayed and everything is too slow. The steam workshop has kept Planco alive over the years!

I hope the barriers are in the game, the guests should still go through everything (8 years later). Why there is still no collision for scenery objects is also incomprehensible🫣

This will cause massive bad reviews and cancellations on PC!! The weak ranking on steam is also due to all these points...

PLEASE FRONTIER, IMPROVE THIS QUICKLY, RESPOND TO THE FEEDBACK FROM RUDI, LADY AND CO., OTHERWISE PLANCO 2 WILL QUICKLY DISAPPEAR INTO THE SEA (SEE CITIES SKYLINES 2)!!!!

That would be an incredible disappointment, I was so excited, I was with Planco from the first version with all the DLCs...😪

Frontier have to be open and communicate with their community. There are a lot of questions, from PC and console players. What can we expect at launch and after that? It doesn't feel like the Frontier we know of Planet Coaster 1 and Planet Zoo.

My points so far:
  • No communication from Frontier devs to players.
  • Water slide physics (can we expect improvements?)
  • Guest limit (make it optional on PC?)
  • FD Vision's conveyor belt-gate. A part of the players pre-ordered Planet Coaster 2 because of the conveyor belt. The text has been removed in the last days and it's just a normal station.
  • FD Vision is bugged, stops to wait for guests. Can we expect fixes??
  • No onload/offload/dual stations.
  • Seasons and weather but there's only sun, rain and wind. Can we expect more? Will it give an impact on rides and water parks?
  • Special tracks like switch tracks. Can we expect improvements like this so trains don't have to stop on that special track piece?

Not my points as a PC player but also important for console players:
  • Information about build limits. There are many questions about it but there's 0 communication from Frontier.

I really think, this game was rushed like hell... Maybe they working on engine improvements for a long time, but content and feature wise it lacks a lot. It feels like a lot of stuff was added last minute... Like the preorder dark ride, which just seems to function as a normal ride with an extremely long train.

Even seeing footage two months ago called alpha, shows that at best planet coaster had two months in beta status...

I think they should have made this an early access launch, not a full launch - but than they couldn't have sold it for full price.

Lets not even forget about the annoying Frontier Workshop where you have to go through all your subscribed blueprints page by page to update them at each gamestart because if not then they are not going to be available for you in your game you have to update them when there is an update and you have to do it manually page for page. I made an entire video about it for planet zoo on console but the same goes for PC1 on console and probably now also PC2 on console and PC because I doubt they added an update all button see my video about it but they simply didnt care https://t.co/pc47vCIWtO

Planet Coaster (1) also had a long alpha period. The game went to beta in November, 2016. That's around 1 week before the release. See this post.

It's all confusing me a bit. I'm gutted that Planet Zoo features weren't simply ported across. Nobody was ever going to mind an identical staff room in this new game rather than an empty box. And then things like Glass pieces, Terrain Stamp, Gift Shop and Restaurant. And other very cool Planet Zoo features. Why on Earth wouldn't the flying-camera-sequencer thing be in the new game?

As the Planet series has evolved, you kinda expect these standard things to be included with every new game. I don't want European or Twilight or Temple scenery included as base items but I do want to be able to build windows as standard.

Something isn't right to the point where it can't be a mistake. Surely?

I want to have faith and believe that those with early access will be getting a big update on release day to an actual full version that we will also receive. Don't know if that will be the case. I just struggle to believe that were stepping backward on these things.

Content creators can be an excellent way to promote products, especially since most are enthusiastic and bring positive energy to their work. Thankfully, some also have the honesty and stability that our community values.

I’m disappointed that Frontier now offers exclusive early access to select YouTubers, leaving everyone else to wait until release. I don’t fully understand the reasoning, but it feels disheartening.

These early-access videos reveal bugs and issues still present in the game, raising more questions than answers. While it might be a clever strategy to let the initial wave of fan criticism pass before launch, this approach feels poorly managed overall.

Too many features are either not working well, missing entirely, or not functioning as expected. The game's potential is clear, but so is the mismanagement, which is a shame given how little it would take to make this a success.

Right now, I feel somewhat cheated and disappointed. In the “Deep Dives,” Frontier seemed to avoid addressing key questions, showing the same limited features repeatedly—and now I think I understand why.

It’s unfortunate. I’m genuinely concerned about whether the game will run smoothly on an average computer, as it’s supposed to be accessible to a broad audience. With high-end PCs out of reach for most people, performance is a crucial factor.

After the abrupt halt in Planet Coaster 1’s development and the long wait for its successor, I’m questioning whether I want the excitement of this release overshadowed by these issues.

In the end, I’ve held onto my pre-order thanks to my girlfriend's encouragement. But I’m left with a lingering disappointment, which is hard to ignore.

I had really hoped that this long-awaited game would break the trend of underwhelming releases, but unfortunately, that hope feels dashed.

I agree with a lot of points, I was close the preordering it, because of the cash-crap pre-order rides, but after seeing them in action - I realized I don't need them.
So while I liked a lot, there is sooo much stuff missing, that I don't want to pay the full price at the moment...
I think keys will appear quite quickly on key seller sites in the near future after launch - and while I am normally happy to support developers directly, after abandoning PC1 while many of us were still waiting for a lot of features and the lack of communication back than and till today - I am fine to buy it cheaply on the grey market.

Just put in a refund request, sad to say. I was hyped to hear that PC2 with waterpark functionality was developed and had very high hopes for a good successor of PC and the RCT3 game Soaked. As an RCT player of the first hour with the early beginnings of RCT by Chris Sawyer, I saw a lot of development happening during the years. I was so glad that PC2 was the real spiritual successor of the franchise and with the improvements made in Planet Zoo a new step in the right direction was made. But along the way close to the finish line it began to sink in that they forget their audience. As Rudi mentioned in his why video, the points on physics on the slides and how they look are not what they should be. While the whole point of the PC2 was about the slides. I would rather see a PC2 with a later better functional soaked add-on so they could take the time to make it right. This is a downgrade regarding the physics in RCT3.

A friend and family member mentioned waiting with buying, hoping to see changes in this as well. It is so sad. And the biggest issue is silence at the side of Frontiers what they will do about it.

I am just holding on until release day and see what they have fixed and what not. If we don’t get physics on the first day, I will refund my purchase!! It sucks we get this crap because of console players. I hate to say it but this feels like Cities Skylines 2 all over again!!!:mad:

I would say calm down and give IT a Chance. This Game ist a Journey and will Not BE complete or final in Release Date. There ist No way to satisfy everybody in day1, should BE given. Missing custom Media is a No Go for me aswell eg, but maybe the Vanilla Release Version ist equal to console, but PC ist getting different Updates which will fix some issues. Planet Coaster 1 entertainede for so many years since Release, so frontier ist getting Credit for that and I will Not refund or such. If the Game does Not do Justice in the Future I will likely buy No dlcs. But I don't believe that will Happy. Lets wait a few days for Release and then WE have a Look and our own opinions 🥰

The silence says it all.... I'm really disappointed they will have the same fate as Cities Skylines 2

It's weekend. Chill.
Let them get to work and analyze what's been posted.

This Game ist a Journey and will Not BE complete or final in Release Date.

Basically this.
They rely on releasing a series of paid DLC post release. Expecting to have everything on day one is a bit unrealistic.

You thank Rudy for this, but did you see his follow up video where is glowing about the game after putting more time into it? True, there are thing missing, but Rudy himself is loving it and recommends the game.
