Refund/Immediate No Recommendation

You thank Rudy for this, but did you see his follow up video where is glowing about the game after putting more time into it? True, there are thing missing, but Ru

He already stated in the first video, that their would come another video about what he likes... He even said in the new video, he made this before the other, but decided to release the more critical video first.
And it is like he says, there are a lot of good things in planet coaster 2, but for many enthusiasts there is a lot of stuff worse, but that doesn't mean the game isn't fun...

I think most casual players, don't care about the most stuff that is missing - but the ride builders and enthusiasts do. Wo while I am more critical, I still think you can have a lot of fun with the game

Copying from my post on the Steam Boards here:

After watching countless hours of videos from the official announcement on, I, along with my wife, were extremely hyped for this game's release. However, upon the embargo lifting and learning about all that is missing from Planet Coaster 1, this game is an immediate no buy/refund.

Thanks to Rudi Rennkamel's video on YouTube (
Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sg2CwowVEPw
), I will not be buying this game until Frontier can confirm that these features/additions will be making their way into PC2. Listed in order of utmost importance:

#1 - Custom audio and video utilizing speakers, ride audio, billboards, etc.
I cannot stress enough how important this feature was to me and the community in PC1. Making great improvements for Dark Rides in PC2 is fantastic, but then you stripped away the greatest thing from the first game that made Dark Rides possible in the first place. Any main feature that existed in the first Planet Coaster must exist in this sequel for us to accomplish what many of us were already hard at work creating in advance of the launch of this game.

#2 - Guest limit
Explain to us why this exists in the first place. If the design for this game is catering solely to console players, than you are making a dead game at launch. The player base on Steam alone dwarfs that of the console players in their entirety. Why water down the PC version of the game for this aspect? The game that prides itself on no limitations is doing a great job of limiting what we, the creators, can do/imagine in PC2.

#3 - Water Rides
Physics. These seemed to be very important to Frontier going back to the RCT3 days. But sadly, it seems those days are over. What Flume ride has a flat bottom to the tubes? Why do riders/rafts not oscillate down the tubes as they would in real life? The body slides seem to be a little better, but everything with regards to the raft riding rides seem animated only at best.

The laundry list from here on out gets very long. So in short, here's a list of some of the things lacking/missing upon launch that are very befuddling:

-Missing animatronics (Human, etc.)
-No improvement to physics
-Special tracks (switch tracks, drop tracks) not available on 99% of the other rollercoasters
-No hotels/restaurants despite being in PC1
-No multiple stations and/or onload/offload for any rides
-Missing original and dlc items from PC1 and missing several items from Planet Zoo
-No Glass pieces (good luck making indoor areas/parks)
-No bigger maps
-Preorder bonuses are a joke and should be included in the base game (money grab)
-Blueprint limit? Needs to be higher than 4000
-No direct communication from Devs on concerns
-No Steam Workshop? No custom creations from outside of the game like in PC1?

Like so many people, I have spent more time creating in this game than I have played any other game ever. While new additions and improvements have certainly been made, my level of creation is now unreasonably restricted comparatively to the first game. In short, I am getting a refund for my preorder and I will not be recommending this game to anyone else until all of these blatant issues have been addressed/resolved.
There's a Frontier workshop. It's changed to be cross platform for consoles and Epic Games. So there is still a workshop.

I wish there was the walkable/customizable gift shops from Planet Zoo. Also I don’t understand the reason for the log flumes STILL having a 20 degree drop angle as the steepest option, it should be at least 45degrees. It would be nice if the Splash Coaster had the option to disable the light fixture it comes with on the ride vehicle.

That's a shared workshop for creations in the game. Steam workshop operated on user generated items from outside of the game. These are not the same thing. User generated content cannot be imported into Planet Coaster 2 by currently designed methods.

The Theme Makers Toolkit was only added to Planet Coaster at the end of it's lifetime of updates. I think it would be very unlikely it would exist for a new game as it could harm sales of official DLC. Planet Zoo does not have this feature.

People need to stop blaming the games issues on console (Im not a console player).
Consoles are glorified PC's now and have never been so powerful. Consoles also allow for user generated content. Once files are packed by the tool kit and uploaded, it is no different to blueprints or DLC made by frontier etc. It will just be another game asset. As long as the tool is solid and cant be used to harm consoles in any way.

Steam workshop has nothing to do with Frontier or content type in general. Its just a content hub for all games on Steam. Frontier workshop can be made to work just like the Steam workshop and have what ever Frontier wish.

As long as custom content (Theme makers tool kit) is handled and packed correctly. i dont see Sony or MS having an issue. As i say, once packed correctly by the tool kit, it is no different to any other asset in game.

Which two?
Some one mentioned that they said today costum Billboards and costum Audio is coming back soon.... But I don't know where this info comes from...
But this would be the best news we had since it was announced... At least for me personally.

And that they are watching the performance and may increase the guest limits...

If they are worried that people increase it and than complain about the performance, they should simple add an pop up, that displays the message: "increasing the guest limit might cause performance issues" or sth. Like that.

But this are great news... 😂 I am really happy that they start to communicate a little bit.

As much as I'm pleased to see this announcement, I can't help feeling that Frontier has been backed into a corner, and only said something because they realised their bottom line is at risk. At the end of the day, Frontier doesn't have to do anything, it's their business, but I feel that they ignore the player community at their peril.

Will be closely watched on PC after launch - may make adjustments in the future.

I thought guest limit may be due to performance reasons. It’s obvious with the additions of water parks how much more taxing that is in comparison to PC1. I do think this got a little out of hand to be honest although I do see the points that are being made. In my experience with frontier not so much PC days but definitely since the start of PZ at launch is frontier has always been a relatively tight lip company. No road maps and no guarantees I guess you could say. Example like in PZ as we all know flying birds have been heavily requested and to this day they’ve been pretty tight lipped on that particular subject. I mean Bo and Chante were here for the start and I really can’t say even then communication on the hard to answer questions was much better. Like I said I see the valid points of the community for sure and communication could no doubt be better but frontier seems to genuinely care about their fan base imo and despite the silence has always delivered high quality products.

Yeah, I agree. They've totally been backed in to a corner, but had they just communicated with us in the first place (like they did during PC1 release) it wouldn't have come to this. Hopefully they switch it up moving forward, for their sake. I reached out multiple times, in emails and tweets. But only because I didn't want the game getting review bombed. I actually want it to be successful.

There is some reason to believe that this is flat loaded right now to truly understand the strain that the game can have on consoles and fairly optimized PC's.

The assumption based on their comments at this time is that they will continue to analyze this after launch and potentially adjust based on community feedback along with their internal testing.

Yep, totally agree. Here's hoping we've turned a corner.

Frontier wouldn't be having a problem with any if this at all if Rudi hadn't posted the Why why why video. Dude is so ungrateful sometimes. I've told him that many times to stop being negative all the time and to be honest hope he's had a telling off.

I actually stopped following him but went to find this video and you're right, it's over the top.
He has made some great parks etc but he can be very negative generally.

Same, I unfollowed him at some point during Planet Zoo. I think it was when gift shops didn't quite work initially. Just so critical and complaining and I've commented to let him know as well. I just can't believe he would interfere with the Planet Coaster 2 launch in that way. But hey that video is earning!! Really getting a dislike for the man.

It is literally consoles fault though.

Why dont they just implement a system requirements check and then change the recommended limit based on your PC specs? Because of consoles.
